I'm not sure if it happens at other shows, but at PIW, it seems to be the custom for the skaters to sign on the cards attached to the flowers to show acknowledgment and gratitude towards the fans.

Great tradition! Definitely a "warm, fuzzy" for the skaters. It's kind of like giving them a hug. Very cool...I noticed they were lavender. I'm sure the fans thought the flowers would match his new purple deep V. For some reason it made me nervous today to see how close everyone is to him. Be safe Shoma!

ETA: I posted this in the TJ thread as well, but the report from Pigeon Post says that Shoma's cantilever edges look even more deep that his shoulders and head are soon going to touch the ice. He landed the 4T easily and seems to be in good condition.

Hooray for Shoma! Do we dare hope that his training with Alex was successful?! In that one clip at Glacier he did a 4T+2T that looked so good! I think I could hear Alex saying something like "Good job!" (or similar). Thank you Shoma for being such a hard worker.

:yes2:Aww! What a nice, thoughtful way to encourage a young skater! I admire him so much. While everyone was always remarking on how small he was, he never let his size stop him and just kept working hard...Very nice photo. He looks slim and trim -- no more Sprinkles cupcakes!

Such a nice photo. And he does seem much more relaxed with the fans and the little mini interviews they do with him. It seems (with the interviews) that he finally realizes people want to hear his comments, even if he doesn't say anything profound! When I read the translations of his comments, he does just seem to speak from the heart, which I really like. I think he's a genuinely good guy.

Comparing Shoma's interviews now to what he did a year (?) ago -- whenever I've had a bad day, I just watch about 30 seconds of this and I have to laugh. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K6NT-bqfEK8 He is so shy, uncomfortable, awkward, and nervous it just cracks me up. Luckily, he didn't faint! Pulling on his sleeves, his pants, his face. He really is so endearing!

1.she asked how many times he's been to school. Shoma says it's a secret since he rarely goes to school.

2.Tatsuki's fan said to shoma she's looking forward to lavender of Shoma. Shoma replied strongly with all due respect he uses the piece of a great precursor succeeding last year, but he trys to do his best by his own way.

3.she asked shoma whether he chose "see you again" since he likes wild peace. he replied he's never decided his music by himself. she says that means he's worked hard with pieces which someone decides. He said yes.

4.she asked if he decides his hair style by himself. he said yes and he got his hairs cut since it's summer, but he cant do well with setting hair style. She recommends putting a small amount of hair wax on his hairs overall and pinch a point. He was surprised that he had put the lump of wax until then.

At first, I wasn't even sure if that was Itsuki! He's grown up so much that it seems that the shape of his face has changed. They certainly inherited the genes for good looks in that family. I was also trying to see if the hockey blades gave Itsuki more height, but I really couldn't tell. Looks like Shoma is wearing a really nice, new Phiten necklace. He looks really good.

Oh thank you for translating all that information, so people like me can enjoy his comments! I'm not sure which is funnier, the school comment or the hair wax comment. I know I even wrote on G.S. somewhere that he should use less hair wax!

I really can't imagine him picking his own music, and I'm sure most of the skaters have help. Or sometimes the skater chooses something and the coach says no. Although I thought I read somewhere that he really wanted to skate to Turandot / Nessun Dorma, and that it was his idea...So happy to hear him paying respect to Tatsuki. My guess is that (at the very least) he has watched both Mao's and Tatsuki's versions of Lavender, and maybe others. Just wish we didn't have to wait until Friends to see the program and the (purple?) deep V.

About training in US, he used harness with his jump practice except lutz. Japanese rinks lack harness, and he was sorry for it.
Provably, the practice using harness was effective for him.
