So often I find myself thinking about potential scenarios and all these different "what if" scenarios. Sometimes its something super crazy, like what if Michelle or Sasha were competing in their prime today and not almost 20 years ago, or if someone like Alissa Czisny had been a more technically sound skater and could land jumps in competition all the time, or the opposite where a skater like Rachael Flatt who was a great jumper was dynamic artistically. or what if someone delivered when it counted when they didn't in real life? How could that have changed the course of the future, not only for them and their careers but others as well? It's just interesting to think about the outcomes of certain situations and how different things would be if it had played out differently, or if some skaters had been younger/older and how they'd measure up to today's skaters.

How about "what if Anna Shcherbakova wasn't injured and was competing on the JGP right now"? :laugh2: Or, "what if Sasha had consistent jumps"? Then she'd have been a threat

RIGHT. she could have been a huge threat to michelle! she really would have been the ideal skater...she obviously had amazing artistry, lines, flexibility, and spins, but with consistent jumps? woahhh buddy. watch out. makes you wonder how many more international medals and US titles could have been hers.

What if Mao had skated a clean short at Sochi 2014? I think she would be champion and her long would have been scored higher :(

What if Mao had decided to be an ice dancer? Surely she would still be competing, though she surely would have had to get a non-Japanese partner, like Chris.

'What if' Kaetlyn Osmond wasn't injured on a day in Sept. 2014, that resulted in missing the entire 2014-15 season, then, having to relearn to skate/jump and compete both physically/mentally, in 2015-16. Would GP's and World podium finishes be different, if the events of Sept 2014, had not happened?

What if Tonya Harding had trusted her talent and not listened to that money hungry idiot, Jeff Gillooly. Her new movie would have been focused on how a talented blue color young skater from backwoods Oregon became a Champion. Unfortunately, she will always been affiliated with one of the biggest scandals in the history of the all of sports.

What if Katarina Witt were not that generously judged?

The bigger question is......What if Rosalynn and Debi had skated better when it counted. IMO, Katarina was the clear winner when she won her OMG's. She wasn't spectacular in 88 but Debi was unfortunately, even worse.

What if Sergei Grinkov hadn't met such an untimely death? How many more titles would he and Katia have won?

What if Kurt Browning didn't blow his 1994 Olympic Tech Program? What if the COP system were in place then? Would he have won a medal? Would his Free Skate be scored as first instead of third?

What if Michelle did a 3/3 in Nagano in 98? I think if she had done a 3/3 it would have cemented her win.

What if Julia Lipnitskaya had skated clean at the individual event at Sochi?
Would she have medaled? Would she still be skating?

I sometimes think about who the OGMs would be had the IOC not changed the Winter Olympic years starting in 1994.
1996: Kwan, Kerrigan, or maybe even Yuka Sato might have competed for gold
2000: Kwan, Slutskaya, Lipinski, and Butyrskaya might have been the favorites
2008: Asada may have won gold
2012: Probably Yuna, Asada, and Caro would have been the contenders
2016: Probably Medvedeva would have won her first gold, but maybe Gracie and Julia L would have been contending.
