    Thanks, I appreciate it.

I for one do not believe the nonfans of Kwan are Kwan haters but I do think they are not happy with Kwan gushers. JMO.
To a degree, this is true. I'm glad someone else thinks this way.

However, this said, taken to an extreme, Kwan gushers can get to some people so much that it can eventually turn into a dislike or a hatred (sometimes intense) of her. I know this firsthand because I've experienced it, and seen other people experience it as well.

Perhaps you have. But other than maybe a few comments, IMO only real Kwan fans would "notice" such a thing (because I've never insulted her or called her names). It makes perfect sense that such small details would be picked apart only in this forum. But I digress. In a couple of months, we'll all know who's skating to what, and people will be preparing themselves for the opening event of the 2005-2006 Olympic Season. I say bring it on.

Some of you guys are like a bunch of vultures when Sasha's name is mentioned, you try to pick her to the bone.

Oh how I am looking forward to this skating season!

Remember that I've seen this happen even on her fan forum, so you can't necessarily blame it on the "Cohen-haters". The more you put yourself out there, the more you'll be picked apart. And, since Cohen has an online journal, it makes her a target for that much more discussion and criticism, some of it from many of her own fans.

And some posters love to pick apart and never never have anything positive to say about any female skater until after the results are in to make sure that he is never wrong.

Sasha is fine. I don't know of any poster in GS who hates her. The vitriole towards Kwan and Cohen comes from someone who enjoys that kind of notariety.

What I find ironic is that it appears to me that many of the people who pick apart Sasha's journal turn around and criticize other skaters for not having on line journals!

^^^ Ain't that the truth. I don't know why people take apart Sasha's journal. I mean, I'm not really a fan of hers but I like to read it to see how she's doing and stuff. It's cool that she takes the time to write it.

I would love it if just general news threads about certain skaters would only be left to their fans to dicuss without any "haters" adding their 2cents. Not to be harsh, but what 's the point of it? Sasha non-fans should let the Sasha fans enjoy themeselves and not feel that they have to defend her at every twist and turn, same for the Michelle threads. This way you could enjoy your favorite skaters even more by respecting the favorites of your fellow posters.

I just wonder how much of the Sasha journal is the plan of her marketing group rather than Sasha herself.

That is, fan chat, negative or not is better than no chatter at all.

    Just a thought.

The point would be the free and open exchange of ideas with (hopefully) both sides learning from it. Fans can always discuss their favorite skaters on their respective fan sites. I don't buy into the ideal that you should only say nice things or remain silent. The boards would be filled with tedious, mind numbing gush threads. That, IMO, would be absolutely pointless. Instead, I believe people should say what they think, but say it respectfully.

Sasha's journals are harmless. Although not much substance at times like getting a tan :sheesh: but she is catering more to her fans than the general figure skating fans. Some of her fans seem to be very interested on that.

AND as long as she doesn't post Al-Queda, Holy War and How to make a bomb out of cow's urine and duck tape, frankly she can write whatever she wants. But I also understand Red Dog who wants more info on her programs and such because I am also starving for info from many skaters. Then again no skin off my back, if that's all Sasha wants to divulge at this time that's her business I won't lose any sleep over that.
