Here's one more IOC link to its write-up of 1960 Olympic gold medalist Carol Heiss of the USA. Carol was a strong, athletic skater from Queens, New York, and she won the gold medal at Squaw Valley in convincing style. She also won five World titles.

Carol was a terrific champion, and she's a first-rate figure skating coach, too.
