No, he is not related to Michael J. Fox, but he is Canadian and he is a hero to many Canadians.

Terry was born in Winnipeg, but lived here in British Columbia most of his life. He was diagnosed with cancer in his teens and decided to do something significant with his borrowed time - a run across Canada to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian cancer society.

Terry began his run in the Maritme provinces and made his way towards BC mile by mile. However, he did not finish his run as he was struck down once more by this deadly disease when he reached Thunderbay, Ontario. Not many Canadians had heard of Terry Fox until he reached Thunderbay. However, they realized his goal as his story touched so many lives and Terry became a legend overnight. After Terry died, the Terry Fox foundation was formed and there is a national run every year. This year is special as it is the twenty-fifth anniversary of Terry's original run. It is being celebrated from Coast to Coast in Canada this weekend.

When the program The Greatest Canadian aired, Terry Fox was natrually at the top of the list. In fact, he earned the second spot after Tommy Douglas was decalred the winner. Most people today would argue that Terry Fox is the greatest Canadian. He certainly is a true hero.

Here is more about this Canadian hero:
