Here are just a few of my all-time favorite skating costumes worn by my all-time favorite figure skaters:

Dorothy Hamill -
"Nutcracker" - gorgeous pink/white with white fur at the sleeves.
"Phantom of the Opera - Music of the Night" - dark blue dress - stunning!
1976 Olympic long program - "American Beauty Rose" dress with rhinestone around the v-neck. Simple and lovely.

Jill Trenary -
1990 World long program - short-sleeved red/gold dress with petal skirt - gorgeous.
1990 World short program - gold dress - stunning!
1988 Olympics long program - red beaded dress - stunning!

Nicole Bobek -
1995 US/World long program to "Dr. Zhivago" - stunning gold dress.

Peggy Fleming -
1968 Olympic long program - chautreuse dress her mother had sewn for her. Rhinestones around the neck and sleeves. Simple and absolutely beautiful.

Michelle Kwan -
1998 US/Olympic long program - very simple, sleeveless blue dress. Stunning and lovely.

Tara Lipinski -
1986 short program dress for "Little Women". Simple brown dress - it was right in character for the music and the movie.
1998 Olympic short program to "Anastasia" - the cream-colored dress with blue vest - very pretty and elegant.

Sasha Cohen -
2004 "Swan Lake" long program - the simple white dress.
Her short program dress, as well, was lovely.

The list goes on and on, of course!

I loved Sasha Cohen's "Nutcracker" dress, and Matt Savoie's costume last year was really cool.

I have always loved Marina Anissina's costume from their Romeo&Juliet FD. She looked great. I also loved her dress for their Spanish OD in 2002.

I loved her Spanish dress in 2002 as well. That's probably one of my favorite dance costumes in recent years!!

Sometimes "less is more", IMHO, and I especially liked Janet Lynn's skating dresses Many of them were very plain, with no adorments, sequins, feathers, and the like, and they had long sleeves, a high neck, and a full skirt. There was absolutely nothing to detract one's eyes from Janet skating on the ice. Her 1972 Olympic long program dress was shocking pink, and she was a picture of grace, charm, and athleticism as she skated.

I also liked Julie Lynn Holmes (silver medalist behind Janet Lynn at a number of US Nationals) competitive costumes. They were a bit more ornamental than Janet's costumes, and they were feminine and allowed plenty of freedom for Julie to perform her many jumps and spins.

Those are great links, guys!! Thanks for sharing them with us.

BronzeisGolden, that picture of Michelle in her TFB pose is beautiful. Thanks!

My favorite dress is Michelle's red Sheherezade dress. Absolutely stunning.
I also really liked her scribble dress that she wore for Miraculous Mandarin.

Oooh....I love that dress, too! I was looking for a quality picture of it, but I had trouble finding one. She looked great in that dress.

Thanks for the Kerrigan pics, Piel. I always liked the dress she wore for "Beauty & the Beast"......too bad there are so many bad memories attached to it. It really was lovely.

Kristi Y wore a beautiful dress in the 'Time' tour of SOI as a guest star. It had sequined trim around the bodice that produced a twirl of sparkles when she was spinning. The dress itself was simple until she went into a spin and then it was a visually stunning effect with the lighting.

Just about anything Kristi Yamaguchi wore. My favorites are:
~Romeo and Juliet (beautiful empire waist dress)
~Bridge Over Troubled Water (white dress)
~Louis Armstrong Medley (black dress)
~Triplets of Belleville
~O Mio Babbino Caro (?sp) - she did this number for her 91 Worlds exhibition
~Blue Danube

Michelle Kwan, especially:
~Lyra Angelica
~blue dress at 2005 Worlds Qualifying Round
~Rach dress 2002 Olympics
~Ariane
~Beautiful World (2000 SA exhibition)

Lu Chen, in particular:
~Butterfly Lovers (98 Olympics)
~Take Five (97 Worlds - even though the program was a disaster, the dress was great)
~Mendelssohn blue dress, 95 Worlds SP
~Rach, 96 Worlds
~she can even make a practice outfit look great, which is what she wore at 95 SA when she first performed Spring Breeze

Liz Punsalan - 97 Worlds OD and 98 Olympics FD dresses

Lucinda Ruh - 98 Worlds SP and 99 Worlds SP

Josee Chouinard and Caryn Kadavy had beautiful dresses during the many pro competitions in the mid-late 90s.

In my opinion Radka Kovarikova and Rene Novotny had very lovely, tasteful costumes, particularly the Romeo & Juliet...

also I loved the costumes of Natalia and Artur with the Rachmaninov number, the one they wore in the 94 Olympics...

Also Anjelika Krylova and Marina Anissina looks lovely in Spanish style dresses (Paso Doble/Flamenco)...

Well there are so many goods, bads and uglys, but these are a few examples that came to my mind right now...

Kristi had many beautiful costumes. My fave was her Madame Butterfly. I also lurve Michelle's Mulan outfit and Cinderella outfit. MK's Rach Purple 2002. I love the Coral Tosca. The dress is too haute-couture but the color was amazing. I love Spartacus. I wouldn't mind wearing that belt around, that's too cool.

Sasha's black dress with like red highlight in the bottom. I forgot which program I think it's the first Malaguena. I also like her Rach dress, my fave Sasha LP. Sasha's exhibition dress to Barb's song. She looks great in blue. I think she should wear a purplish-bluish dress for the Oly.

I finally like an Irina outfit. Her Flamenco this year is really great on her. At least she's not wearing the granny skirt anymore. The ruffles is a bit too distracting but the color just pops out and love the detail.

Peggy F, Dorothy and all the veteran ladies. I especially love the diva-ish of Sonia Henie with the fur.

I like many of Alexei's costumes and Baboo's Matrix. Mao's outfits are very cute and nothing revealing.

Other favorites:

Kristi Yamaguchi's gorgeous 1992 Olympic costumes - her blue short program dress and her stunning gold and black long program dress.

Nancy Kerrigan's goregous 1992 Olympic costumes - her yellow short program dress and her stunning white long program dress.

Lu Chen's stunning 1998 Olympic long program red dress.

Katia Gordeeva/Sergei Grinkov's lovely 1988 Olympic long program costumes - stunning blue with flowers along the side of the top. Their attractive black and white 1994 Olympic long program costumes. They wore many beautiful costumes, and they really wore them with a lot of flair.
