Excellent skate, with the NJS she could have moved very far ahead with such performance (and I suspect she would not have been that far behind, since she should have gotten levels 3 and 4 on her non-jumping elements)

TM: 5.1-5.4
PR: 5.3-5.5

Off to see final flight.

Thanks a MILLION!!

For the awesome play by play.

Congrats to Sokolova. And I hope Volchkova continues to heal, train, etc. and get back to being more of a force. Can't wait to hear more about some of the others who will be "up and comers" in the next Oly cycle. Hope we get to see them somehow!!

Many thanks,

DG

I have always loved Elena's attack and freshness, but not so much her posture and subpar layback spins and spirals. Do you guys think she can contend for the bronze against the Japanese, and maybe challenge Sasha (who excells in other departments but Sokolova is the superior, albeit unpredictable jumper) for the silver?

First off, thanks Chrissy51 for that additional PBP! In our current "internet world" it seems like the Russian Nats has been more challenging than others to obtain information about.

VinL (is it OK if I shorten your name that way?) - I like Elena's attack as well. She has proven (IMO) to be very solid for a number of years in the senior ranks. Not necessarily on the podium in the big events, but "right there."

If Elena goes to Oly's, and steps it up in overall quality terms in her programs, I will be among those applauding. I'm not so sure my hopes are up though. I see her in more of a supporting role for team Russia than that of a leading role. <OK! Go Elena and prove me WRONG!!> :)
