Hopefully it will give them more incentive to work harder next year. They're such great talents, and it's such a shame that they didn't do better. You can do it guys!!! :agree:

In the meantime, congratulations to Sergei for medaling! Can't wait to see him at Euros :)

Oh and Anna, thatnk you SO MUCH for posting the results, I would've been gnawing my fingernails for days waiting for the results! your work is truly appreciated.

Thank you Anna!

I hope you've had an awesome time at Russian Nationals. Of the major competitions this year, this is probably the one with the LEAST amount of "official" information available over the net, anywhere close to "real time."

I really appreciate your comments. Travel safely!!

Thanks so much for your reports, Anna!!!

I´m glad for Plushenko and Klimkin for their gold and silver medals. LOL, of course those were no suprises at all... I´m even more glad for Dobrin, Uspenski and Magerovski for their achievements as they can be seen as Russia´s future, and would expect at least two of them standing on the Nationals podium next year. Plushenko of course will be there, if he continues with eligible skating.

He's like no other skater when he is on. I hope we get to see him on TV during Euros if not Olys but better both.

Ok, I am back to Moscow, so here is the rest of the report

Ilia Klimkin
Current place: 2
Music: Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions
Costume: black, red and silver, very understated for him
3A3T
4T2T
3F
FCSp
3F2T
3R
CCSp, change of direction
CoSp, camel, sit, upright, with CoE
CiSt
3S
2L
SlSt
CCoSp, back camel, back sit, back Y, back upright, change of edge, camel, sit, upright, change of edge

Very good performance, solid and steady, but he would need to modify his spins for new system. Changes of edge are nice, but he needs difficult variations of positions as well.

TM: 5.7-5.8
PR: 5.8s
Current place: 1
Overall place: 1

Konstantin Menshov
Current place: 6
Music: ?
Costume: black with blue
3T

CiSt, good tempo
3L underrotated, fall
3S
CSSp, back to front
3F2T

CCoSp, back camel, back sit, forward camel, forward sit, forward upright

He is a good skater, but he does not have the "command" of the top ones.

CoSp, back camel, back sit, change of edge, back upright
SlSt
2A
3L
CCoSp, camel, sit, Y, back camel, back donut, back upright

It was a very good performance and the program suits him well. If he held "variations" long enough he he should get rather high levels on his spins.

TM: 5.5-5.7
PR: 5.7-5.8
Current place:
Overall place:

Alexander Uspenski
Current place: 4
Music:
Costume: black and white

He looked exhausted after first minute, it is a miracle he had only one mistake. Normally he is very expressive skater, but this night he clearly only wished the program to be over.

WHOA! What happened to Gryasev!? Does anyone know what system Russia uses to select it's Olympic team? Since all [who I thought were] the top contenders were here, and Klimkin came second, does that mean he gets to go to the Olys? That would be so great!

Pissiev named the Euro team today and the men selected were the top three at Nationals: Plushenko, Klimkin and Dobrin; he then said that the one who places higher at Euros between Klimkin and Dobrin will go to Olys with Plushenko.

Seems like Plush is pretty healthy.
Klimkin  It's all him. Please, please rock the heck out of Euros, because I need to see him at the Olys.

I really don't get Gryazev. He was the wonderboy of Juniors - constantly beating Evan Lysacek and now look.

I remember Dobrin at Worlds and I thought he is a lyrical skater why are they making him look like a Cossack? He's not Yagudin and he doesn't have to be.
I'm not familiar with the Mask of Zorro music but apparently he did well with it.
