The top 12 in each Q group advance to the short program. The following notes are what I saw while the skater was on the ice and have not been checked against the protocol for mistakes.

CAN Tanika Gibbons Start No: 1
Notes: purple shading to lighter purple on skirt / 2a / 2z / 3s / she's moving really well with the music / camel to sustained inside edge / 3f 1/2 loop turns 2t / 3l maybe under rot / music changes and slows and some chor / 3t / spirals were nice / back cam sit 1/2 twisted sit forard sit layback / 3s turn 2t / buttfly back sit / tango sticatto for strt steps that are right with the music as it speeds up through the seq / sideways to strt layback / tot 72.81 currently 1st /

CAN Giovanna Fiore Start No: 2
Notes: black with gold sideways design shading to red at hem of skirt / 2a / her upper left thigh is heavily taped / 3s fell / 2l / 2s / flycam with nice bent leg layover pos / some chor to slower music / 2f / 2a hand down fell / 2z / back cam sit forward cam is loopy / buttfly back sit / tot 45.71 currently 2nd /

CAN Hjordis Lee Start No: 3
Notes: dark brown velvet with orange inset in back of skirt & accent down back / some nice chor & movement / 3t2t bit wild on both but clean / gorgeous spread eagle & movement to music / 2a 2ft / 3z hand down / flyback sit to inside edge with change of music / pause for some chor - this program uses the music very well / 2f / 3s under rot fell / spirals / fly forward sit / diag steps are very good - right with music & complex / 2a poss under rot but stood up on 1 ft / 3t under rot fell / back sit to mushroom / cam sit tuck layback back sit headless - very nice combo spin to end / tot 54.64 currently 2nd /

CAN Michelle Moore Start No: 4
Notes: black with semi sheer midriff blue & pink band around top / music satrted out slow with some chor & picks up very quickly 2a / 2z / back cam sit inside edge upright / 3t fell / 2a pitched forward / combo spin with nice basic variations / spirals are ok / 1a / sideways to strt layback with foot to head / 2t2t not sure / music is now sabr dance / we just had a waltz jump ? - some thing went wrong / O ftwrk was quite good and kept up with the music / tot 54.62 curently 3rd /

CAN Signe Ronka Start No: 5
Notes: royal purple bathing suit / some chor to violins / 2t2t / 2-1/2 z stumbled out / 3s under rot 2 feet / flycam with inside edge & layout pos / 3t / fly forward sit / spiral seq was nice - nothing special about it, but it was well done - something about it / good diag steps / 3s turn out 1t / 2a 2t 2l / combo spin is very good with nice finished pos & centering / tot 66.41 currently 2nd /

CAN Shelley Walushka Start No: 6
Notes: dark purple / music starts off soft & slow & chor to set the mood / 2z2t / 3t came out forward / 2s / flycam to inside edge / 2a under rot sat / back cam bit of trouble - had to hop / back cam sit to forward sit / 2f2t / 2a bit quickly down with the free foot / Jump combo ending in 1t that I didn't really see / layback spin to end / tot 48.91 currently 5th /

CAN Christa Wilson Start No: 7
Notes: shades of dusty blue with lace effect on sleeves / rhapsody in blue / gorgeous forward flysit almost lost it on landing but managed to hang on huge height great tuck / 2l2t2l / 2t / there's some nice chor touches / split jumps 3s / combo spin includes some neat pos including very definite outside edges / 2l2l / spirals are ok / layback is nicely done / 2a under rot but stood up then put feet foot down / 2z2t almost fell after toe / 2 tano flip both hands down / death drop ack sit with variations / tot 54.77 currently 3rd /

Notes: red with turqoise & purple appliques on dres / layback with foot to head / 2a2t / 2l / 3t fell / music has gotten very heavy - almost middle eastern sounding / O ftwrk to it matches well / now we have sabre dance (which we just heard a few programs ago) / music changed again and back to original or similar / 2z / 3s fell / fly forward sit with tuck / popped sal / may have missed some stuff before the sall - not sure / tot 50.75 currently 6th /

CAN Jessie Cook Start No: 9
Notes: very 'interesting' dress / bra effect in yellow on one side & yellow skirt with red sleeve & over side of skirt / 2f2t2l high wrap / into tango now and he expression changes to match / 2z bit wild on landing / 3t fell short rot / 1a / cam ilussion sit upright spin / butterfly back sit mushroom / 2? / 2s / nice split jump / 2f / tot 54.12 currently 6th /

CAN Amy Herder Start No: 10
Notes: dark brown velvet effect with empire waist & back & grey band around it / very nice fly sit to start / 1a / 3f under rot but stood up / combo spin is a bit slow but nicely held pos / 2l / 2z2t1l / 3s fell / ina ina / spirals are ok / 2t1t / spread eagle seq into 2 tano flip / layback with pleasant positions & held / tot 42.40 currently 10th /

Right after Amy's program, I went to change batteries on my laptop and discovered that my 3rd battery had not charged, so I had no power to take notes on the last 2 groups of ladies. Sorry.
