It was an AWESOME first outing for N/L!!! They have a really bright future IMO. While John did his traditional "make an error on the first SBS jump" (I believe he doubled it, in addition to a wonky landing) the rest of I/B's program was superb. And once they hit the 3A, the whole arena was roaring and it was "lights out." A well deserved win.

For me, the second most impressive LP of the day was Scott/Fein, believe it or not. While their SP IMO was sort of "standard issue SP" their free skate was pretty amazing. The had many very innovative moves and in betweens. I hope this one gets aired on TV.

N/L were my favorite for 3rd most impressive today. Their precision and unison is amazing. I hope that with more time together, the difficulty will go up a tad, and they will retain their precision unison while seeming more "free" together on the ice, if that makes sense. But whau\t an AWESOME first showing at Nationals!!

O/L were understandably devastated in the K&C. I was very impressed with their SP relative to the field, but was left VERY underwhelmed with the FS. There were lots of little mistakes, but even putting those aside, their program just didn't seem innovative at all to me compared to others. I enjoyed Vise /Trent far more than O/L today. (V/T did some sort of flip over during their death spiral. I'm not 100% sure I wasn't imagining things. I hope their program is televised, and that my Tivo doesn't let me down.)

H/P? They are a lovely pair, and fun to watch. I'm not sure silver was the right spot, but I'm not sure who else I would put there given what IMO were pretty dramatic differences in quality of skates between SP and LP. I need to look at the scores and placements for both segments. And the USFSA BETTER not take as long as they did after Campbell's to get score sheets up. (or I'll just stomp my feet and scream. Not that the USFSA would hear that or see that or anything! :))

me too. But then again, I really just want to see Rohene more...but seriously, if they could skate in unison, i bet it would be beautiful.

Doggygirl, thanks for your impressions on the pairs. I thought I read on FSU that John's triple toe was clean...but maybe not. I don't recall if you saw their short or what you thought of it, but overall I wonder if they appear (live) significantly better than the rest in your opinion, and how to you think their programs compare internationally (i.e., do you think they are top 6 material?). I'm so thrilled they landed the throw 3A, just sounds so darn exciting....and I am so P****ed at myself for not changing my cable plan, I don't have espn2...hope some of this is aired tomorrow!

I think they would make a very elegant pair...something that has been missing from pairs in the last few years. The Russians used to have it but not lately, IMO.

Wouldn't that be great or even with Johnny.

So does this mean that Marci and Aaron go to Turino and Katy and Garret stay home? Wow, as much as I like Hinzmann and Parchem, I have mixed emotions about that.

I'd pay to see them spiral together. :)

I'm not 100% sure whether John's wonky landing was on a 2 or 3. Whether 2 or 3, it was probably "clean" in a technical sense - i.e. no hand or but on the ice. But it was absolultely a classic bad landing. (can't wait for score sheets!!)

Even with the 3A, I'm not sure about top six at Oly's or world's. I'm no technic, and I haven't seen the other international pairs live, which is very different IMO than TV or internet. (but thank goodness for TV AND Internet!!) It was certainly a dramatic moment, and I would hope they might contend for top 6 with these programs if they can go clean.

Another comment. Of course the crowd was WILD at the end of their program - especially with the 3A being a historic moment. John really is a fun personality on ice, and as they were taking bows (and bows and bows - based on crowd demand) it was fun to see how he presented HER. Everything about his body language IMO was "look what she did!!" He was presenting HER success to the crowd, at least that's how it seemed to me. It was an exciting moment to experience.

OK - a little more goofing off, then I'm going to catch that last couple groups of Dance FD's. :)

Good point, Mathman.........couldn't Katy and Garret be put on the Oly team instead of Marci and Aaron? 42

I'm thrilled for I&B! Happy for H&P! :) Pleasantly surprised for Scott and partner Fein (have never seen them together). Feel really bad for O&L. And I'm sure Naomi & partner Themi (still haven't really seen them either) are disappointed, but they should be proud of their effort here and I hope they have a successful future! :agree:

I hope we get to see all five tonight!
