Surprised to see Sebestyen so low; glad for Gedevanishvili - her technical score almost matched Irina's!; awful placement for Maxwell. Places 2 through 5 are in a virtual tie (so Kostner's 5th is really a no big deal), with the next two close behind.

Wonderful surprise for the lovely, ultra-svelte Georgian pixie! I remember her dynamic jumps & overall 'sparkle' at the March 2005 Jr Wds, where she won bronze and beat-out the likes of Kimmie Meissner, no less. Could Elene G. be the out-of-left-field 'Oksana' of this year? She will be the youngest of all competitors in Torino....age 15. She barely made the cut-off (born on the 'right' side of the cut-off date by a couple of months).

Could this be "The Revenge of the 15-year-olds"? I'd love to see her do well here at Euros, then go on to Torino & upset the apple cart a bit!

I belive Elene turned sixteen this month.
    Great skate for her.
I'm a little surprised about how the judges saw Volchkova. I did not have the impression she had to be below the 60 points.

Sarah Meier always had the potential but always collapsed in competition. Apparently she hit this time out. I hope they show her on TV. She's finished with an .01 less than Sokolova.

I was very impressed by Sarah Meier and Elena Gedevanishvili (huh, that is a difficult last name to remember, fortunately at least the first name is easy, LOL). Also Slutskaya´s speed and interpretation for Totentanz is really awesome. That number definetely is not going to become a Totentanz for HER in the Olympics, I´d predict.

It will be interesting to see whether a few of those skaters that succeeded so well in SP, will fall down a bit in LP results.

Hey, if Americans could learn to pronounce the name of General Shalikashvili, they can learn the anme of Gedevanishvili! (I know you're not American, Jaana). Actually, all one needs to remember is "Gedevani", and then just append the typical Georgian last name suffix of "shvili".
