Tugba of Turkey has posted the highest TES scores so far - 44.85!!! Closest TES is not so close: Dytrt at 38.86. I can't wait to see Tugba's LP, as soon as it's posted on the vids site.

UPDATE: Drei just skated & Tugba STILL has the highest TES score of the ngiht. Good for her!

Well, Tugba's reign as 'technical queen of the freeskate" has just ended. Kiira Korpi -- the youngest of the three Finnish ladies -- has just had the skate of her young life. She's at the top of the board, going into the final flight. Kira posted 50.98 in TES....blowing away the rest of the field! Kiira will end up no lower than 7th place overall. Niiiice. :agree: But my heart goes to Tugba -- still the 2nd highest TES scores of the day, so far.

EleneG. of Georgia. A good clean skate; no deductions. Third-best freeskate so far (behind Meier & Korpi ) leaves her 2nd overall, so far. EleneG will be no lower than 6th at Euros. WOW!!!!

Volchkova was up next. Rather poor showing - 12th best FS of the night so far, including one fall. Into 6th overall. So my Georgian Princess is still 2nd & assured of 5th overall, at least! I'm nervous....now here comes Carolina! Go, Caro!!!!

Caro into first, despite a one-point deduction. Both TES & PCS scores are the highest...PCS scores blow everyone out of the water! So here are the standings with only Sokolova & Slute to skate. Sokolova next.

IRINA WINS with a huge score. Congrats, Irina!!!! Anyone know if this is her personal best? Interestingly, she achieve almost the same number of points in both TES (63.32) and PCS (63.49).

No, she got 198 at Cup of Russia, IIRC.

Wow, what a rush! Thanks for the commentary. Just like being there.

Well, I just reviewed the Eurosport films. Irina won fair & square BUT I'm sorry to report a hand-touch-down to the ice on her 3-lutz, as well as a very poor 'Biellman spiral' in which she released the Biellman position abruptly (a second or two aftr getting into that position). The entire spiral seemed woobly & out of control. YIKKES! Imagine how much higher her scores would have been had she performed the lutz and the spiral to her usual perfection.

CONGRATS, IRINA -- having now broken Sonja Henie and Kat Witt's record on the number of European championships!!!!!

Do people (meaning her family and friends) actually call Carolina Kostner "Caro" ? I just think of Karo syrup everytime I hear it. Carolina is such a beautiful name.

How sad! I've been waiting 4 years for Meier to make the podium but at least she gave a good showing and is in the top 5,

What happened to Sussana? Another Finn beat her.

Sokolova looks dangerous for the Olys silver at this point.

Carolina seems to be determined to medal in home country.

And who is Gedevanishvili?

Watch out Japan and N.America Ladies. The Europeans are looking for medals.

Just more proof about how horribly her scores are being inflated!! She's a great skater but those judges don't know how to judge properly. IN Russia she skated extremely well and for her to be just 1 point shy of what she got there here, even with the mistakes, shows the judges are judging on reputation instead of skill. Much like the old Ice Dancing system, where u had to pay your dues first before you get rewarded a few years after coming into the scene. Once you were "in", it didn't matter if u made a mistake or not, u'd still get high scores.
