Eurosport says that the Ukraineans are in tears for having ended up behind the Estonians.

No reason given for the withdrawal of the North Koreans, by the way.

Second group on the ice, warming up. It includes Hinzmann/Parchem...Go Marcy & Aaron!!!!!

Frau, are you watching this on tv or the internet? I can't seem to be able to access the online version.

I'm 'listening' live on Eurosport.
http://www.eurosport.com/figureskating/torino2/2006/sport_sto832633.shtml

All of my usual sources (CCTV-5, Croatian TV, Serbian TV, etc.) have been cleverly 'blocked' by NBC. Nasty - nasty.

Sounds like Uzbeks are 'crashing & burning'...during Neapolitan dance of Swan Lake. "What a shame," says Chris.

Uzbeks into 2nd, by the way....Chris said, "They took their ASSIGNED SPOT on the strength of their 2nd marks." Hmmm....same old-same-old? Behind the French, who are in 1st.

1 Marylin Pla, Yannick, Bonheur (FRA) 44.24 88.60 132.84
2 Marina Aganina, Artem Knyazev (UZB) 43.85 75.53 119.55
3 Diana Rennik, Aleksei Saks (EST) 39.72 78.41 118.13
4 Julia Beloglazova, Andrei Bekh (UKR) 43.85 78.41 115.62
5 Rumiana Spassova, Stanimir Todorov (BUL) 37.27 73.98 111.25

Marcy & Aaron perfect so far....crowd is going wild.

They end - "That was better...just a bit ragged towards the end. Most difficult routine we've seen so far.....for sure, will move up from 13th place."

"They are going to ROCKET to the top!" 97.??? Crowd goes crazy!!!! Wooo-hooo!!!!

Chris says: GREAT SCORES FOR THE AMERICANS: 52.28 and 45.119 equal 97.47 and they go into provisional first with 147.05 total points and the crowd is going wild, not just the Americans.

Eva-M Fitze & Rico Rex next - last couple of this 2nd group, then ice resulfacing. Now here comes 'Braveheart on Ice.'

"Fitze & Rex are 4th best tonight....goes to show you how poor it is out here, so far. Americans lead by a comfortable mile so far. Fifteen points above the next couple (French)."

Gwendal P. interviews Marcy & Aaron! - Marcy: "We had no huge goals but are so excited tonight. We wantd to connect with audience & just have fun."

Aaron: "Now we can party a bit after 2.5 weeks here."

Chris: "Possible top-ten place?"

about Fitze/Rex, Nick says: THE FOURTH BEST PROGRAMME TONIGHT (3rd overall): As Eva-Maria Fitz and Rico Rex (GER) move into third overall, having put on a poor performance, possibly still distracted from having to come to Turin without their coach, Ingo Steuer's, who couldn't come to Torino because of allegations that he was a member of the Stasi secret police.

So far:

1 Marcy Hinzmann, Aaron Parchem (USA) 49.58 97.47 147.05
2 Marylin Pla, Yannick, Bonheur (FRA) 44.24 88.60 132.84

I am so proud of Marcy and Aaron! :chorus:

Thanks a million for this thread, Frau M.

My pleasure. It took a bit of scouting around to find this live audio. It's even a bit tricky (hidden) within Eurosport. They don't make it easy for us poor Yankees!!!!

They're showing some ceremonies at the Medals Plaza while the ice is being resurpaced....gold medals for Italians in some sport or another...I hear the Italian anthem. The two Canadians teams + the Poles are included in the next group, as a prelude to the next-to-last group, which includes Obertas, Shen, Savchenko, & top Americans. This is getting exciting!

Thanks so much, Frau. I would love to follow live but I have to write an annoying history paper. I might as well just wait until I watch tonight on NBC, but I do like to know the results live! :D

I'm also extremely proud of Hinzmann/Parchem. Not my absolute favorite team, but they're so beautiful and polished on the ice together and they create a clean picture. I'm pleased they get to enjoy this moment to the fullest.

Just to show you how crappy is the NBC Olympics site, their supposedly-"live" scores still show Fitze/Rex as not having yet skated...20 minutes after their skate. :chorus:

Hi Frau Miller. Not sure where you are "interneting" from, but I'm in the US and am getting CCTV-5 just fine. (lol maybe the NBC internet trolls are hunting me down as we speak!!)

It's a toss up though - love the CCTV video feed, but also love the Eurosport audio.

Enjoy!!

Thanks, DG. I tried CCTV-5 several times. Maybe they started later on? Thanks for the hint. Usually I get them OK.

I'll still post here, though.

Marcoux/Buntin - lovely 3 twist...very sharp...ah -- she didn't make 2-toe in combo jumps. "Well done" on throw 3 loop!

slow section - a mistake by Craig on the 2-axels

music accellerates - "fabulous spin...lots of energy to keep up with music...one more key element left...HOW RISKY - throw 3 loop at very end...big fall!"

Chris: "Bizarre choreography."
