because the dogs are the athletes, I guess

that and they'd have to transport 20 some odd dogs, and if the weather is bad they couldn't make the amount of snow needed so there's a lot of money down the drain


the Iditarod is basically the olympics of dog sledding

Thanks for your reply, Toni.............I figured since they had equestrian in the summer Oly's where the horses are center stage, why not dogs in the winter?

I read a story every year to my second graders about the Iditarod and show them where Alaska is........they love it! 42

true but I think the fact that the weather is completely unpredictable takes the possibility of it ever happening out completely
