Why is Lambiel so hated by all?

If going back to Matrix is what allowed Joubert to put down the performance he did at World's, than I'm thrilled he made that decision!!

The men's competition on whole was one of the most exciting for me (just barely - as each dicipline held it's share of nail biting surprises for me). Lambiel was awesome, and the men's final was awesome. Good for Lambiel and congratulations on two consecutive World Championships!!

I'm sure that no one is more disappointed in Buttle's LP than he was. But since "musicality" has been a topic in a couple of different threads, I will admit something. I watched all 24 of the Men's LP performances live on line, and I FREQUENTLY found myself saying...."I wonder what Buttle could do with that music??" And that consisted of many different styles of music. I hope we get to see Buttle skate to lots of different stuff going forward - whether he is "on" or "off" his jumps at any given time.

Since this is a Lambiel thread, I will save comments on many other men for a more appropriate thread. I didn't mean to get so carried away!! I guess I'm just one of those fans who has too many skaters to love!! ;)

I dont see why Joubert should worry about doing too much two-foot skating since the judges dont let it lower his PCS any. For the record Lambiel in reality crushed Joubert in the long program and beat him on TES score as well, since when you add the 5 or so points Stephane was cheated out of by the tech. specialist calling his triple axel a double, and the level 4 spin a level 2, he would have easily over Joubert on TES score and won the long program by about 5-6 points.

Technical difference between Stephane and Brian

If we just look at the long program, Stephane technically beat Joubert not only because of what he did - one more combination jump - but when he did it....late in the program. Both of Jouberts 4T's (including the combo) were in the first half of the program and he only did triple jumps with no combinations and no 4T after the half-way mark. Stephane did his second 4T plus the 3F+3T and the 3Lz+2T late in the program.

Joubert has got to be able to build points later in the program which means a lot of cardio strength - along with skating skills, choreography, interpretation, etc., all of which Stephane did better.

What struck me more (I was in Calgary) was that Stephane was one of the few skaters who looked like he was actually enjoying what he was doing. Brian goes out there, puts on his "Matrix" face and that is all you get. Stephane was joyfully flying and as I told him after the qualifying, "The Zebra needs to fly one more time and please take us along for the ride." He did.

It's the Vivaldi music. It keeps building up for a big ..... well, I'll just say, bang.

Actually, I saw Joubert give a little smile here and there. I couldn't help but root for him. He went through a bad slump period. Hope he continues to be a medalist.

Stephane should be honored, at least in terms of GS standards, by the response to this thread's topic. I've been a GSer for over four years and, in all that time, I don't think I've seen a thread with a topic so silly have this many posts unless it was about Michelle and/or Sasha.

When you've got a post count up there close to Michelle's, you've hit the GS big time, big time!

Keep those quads and zebras coming Stephane!
