I want a podium with 5 ladies. Possible, non? :D I just don't want Meissner to win a medal because her skating simply isn't as mature yet as the top women.

Look at Sokolova -- the 3rd-best SP. Maybe a Russian will make the podium, after all? Hmmmm......

Disappointed for Rochette - though not totally surprised. Skating from what I'm sure was a completely unexpected 1st in the qualifying, looks like nerves killed her in the short.

BUT....she's still within fairly easy reach of the podium, points-wise and will have much less pressure now that she's looking up from fifth. And she's already proven that she has a very competitive long. I'm still cheering for her to make the podium.

Everyone through Meier (currently 7th) has a decent chance at a medal. Sasha's not all that far ahead of Fumie & the rest. All it would take are one or two "Sashasplats" to make this a wide-open competition during the finals! :p

I'm grateful that we won't have to listen to 'Little Miss Motor-Mouth' (Hughes) in the interviews....at least, I don't think we'll be subjected to that, now that she's practically out of the medals.

By the way for Kimmie to score that high without doing a triple-triple is laughable and I dont even have to see her skate to know that, she could not have done a total transformation in just a month.

Well...unfortunately looks like Rochette took herself out of Gold contention right here...but she can still win a medal.

So the only one that can realistically catch up to Cohen is Suguri. But it doesn't look too favorable (didn't cohen place above Fumie's clean skate with TWO falls at the Olympics?!) I'd say Cohen still has a one-mistake margin here. She can fall once and still have a shot but definitely can't mess up on anything else or fall more than once. Suguri will have to be at her very best no matter what.

And Meissner...so blah. good skater but fairly unexciting (to put it nicely)

I like Meissner's skating. I agree, a little on the blah side, but still I enjoy her skating and I think she will improve artistically.

Emily, on the other hand, is like fingernails on the chalkboard...

I hope Sasha does win but then again I have never rooted for a winning team/person in my life so that doesnt bode well for Ms.Cohen.

I like her power and enthusiasm...she's always smiling, too*...I find her more exciting than Kimmie but not exciting by itself.

*Well, most of the time...of course, just before it's time to skate she will have the typical stone face...

I couldn't agree more. I hope she can pull up above some of the others, especially Kimmie.

I hope sasha cohen does not win.i would love to see sarah meier get a medal

I've never cheered for Suguri but I may have to this time because I have some honor at stake somewhere else......Sasha must NOT win!!

Haha, like you guys, I for reasons dont want Sasha to win too...
Russian getting a medal will be nice, Elena is always unpredicable in the long. Kimmie getting a medal will be nice though, I am hoping for Joannie-Sasha-Kimmi finish.

A lot of skaters do better in the SP or LP consistently, I get the impression that Rochette is just an LP skater (after Turin and QR) and her achilles heel is the SP (again Turin and here).I wouldn't be surprised if she can pull back up to podium range.

Cohen, on the other hand, tends to do better in the short and have problems appear more in the LP.

Suguri is the most balanced of the very top skaters here.I think so I wouldn't be surprised if she can go all the way.

I'd be happy with either Cohen or Suguri winning and would prefer to see Rochette, Sokolova or Meier on the podium with them rather than the first timers Meissner or Nakano (both are still too unfinished though I think Nakano is very appealing) I wonder if either will go for the 3ax? Or is Meissner's gone?
