Kansas really IS:

OK, we have all heard it. Kansas is as flat as a pancake. Well, science can not ignore unproven theses, so a georgrapher from Texas decided to test that theory.

Yes, folks, Kansas really IS as flat as a pancake.

Grgranny has claimed that Kansas official state tree is a telephone pole. Maybe Kansas should cultivate some sugar maples, so they can have some maple syrup on their pancake state!

My son once called that journal the annals of the unimportant and ridiculous (obviously, that is what Mom liked about it. Where else can you find such gems!!!).

Hey, we're bored here.....

For Mathman, here is a link to the article itself.

In Canada, we could add Alberta, Saskatchewan (even flatter than Alberta) and Manitoba. I used to ask my dad, how he knew where to turn when driving to the family farm. He used to tell me "by the bend of the wheat!"

OK. I'll admit a lot of Kansas is pretty flat. But there are still hills. Just not as many or as big as a lot of places. Eastern KS is much more hilly. Western Ks less. But if you're pulling a heavy trailer west to Dodge City, you know you're going up all the way. But at least we can see across the street. Never thought I would get tired of trees and hills until I was in Vermont. U cant see nuttin. Can't even tell there are any buildings or cities a block away. Guess I better go check and see if my tree grew any telephones.
