U.S. bronze medallist, World Team member transfers talent to up-and-coming skaters
International roster of coaches to take part in seminars

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MICH. (MARCH 14) – Skaters who want to learn from one of the best at being both talented and funny have a new choice.
Dan Hollander, the 1996 and 1997 U.S. men’s figure skating national bronze medallist and World Team member, has formed Dan Hollander Productions, Inc. The newly created company will present “Perform Like A Champion”, which currently has three seminars scheduled in 2006.
Upcoming seminars will take place in Hoffman Estates, Ill. (June 12-15); Bowling Green, Ohio (June 26-29); and Houston, Texas (July 10-13). Hollander has enlisted top coaches who will strive to increase skaters’ ability to succeed at the highest level.
The roster of coaches includes Jason Dungjen and Yuka Sato, Richard Callaghan, Judy Blumberg, Gene Heffron (coach of 2006 US Olympic team member Matt Savoie), David Kirby, Canadian choreographer Roselle Soussana and others.
Dungjen, Sato and Heffron will appear at all three seminars, while the other coaches will participate in selected seminars.
Hollander will lend his unique abilities to his teaching style.
“I have learned in my skating career that the most successful skaters are the ones who are exposed to positive influences and are able to learn from many different people,” Hollander said.

“I have also found that people always respond to comedy and laughter, which is why I not only perform that way, I also teach that way.”
To prepare skaters in maximizing their scoring potential, a technical specialist will attend each seminar to present a class on the new ISU judging system.

Dan Hollander, a native of Huntington Woods, Mich., began skating at age 4 and rose to the bronze medal at the 1996 and 1997 U.S. National Championships in Senior Men. Hollander, 33, turned pro in 1999 after battling injuries for much of his competitive career.

He nurtured a passion from age 5 to join the cast of “Champions on Ice” after seeing national and Olympic champion Scott Hamilton skate with humor and grace, and was invited to become a full cast member in 2000. For additional inquiries, send e-mail to [email protected] or call (248) 961-2476.

 Good for Dan! I wish him every success in this entrepreneurial venture. (Hey, it's worth the price of admission just to meet Yuka Sato  )

Dan's act is always an audience favorite on COI.
