Re: HP #5

Show, I read that too-and I also read that the Sopranos were going to have how many seasons?4 and it's now 6. I think Rowling may have left herself an out on Sirius and that he may turn up as a ghost somehow. Or as a picture, like his mother.

Re: HP #5

I really think Sirius is gone for good. I mean JK already has the main plot thought out till the end.

I doubt he is a ghost b/c Nearly Headless Nick said that you had to leave your soul in this earth to do so, and it seems that you would become a ghost once you die. Sirius looks long gone. And I may be wrong, but the painting wouldn't really be Sirius, it would just be an image that acts and looks like him I would think, and I don't think Sirius has had a potrait of him made.

Re: HP #5

I think some aspects of Sirius will reappear in some kind of a final battle in the very end. Like Harry's parents springing from Voldermorts' wand at the end of book 4. I think he will reappear once when Harry most needs him; but I don't think he will come back to life in any form.

As for Harry's romantic life -- does anybody else think Loony was introduced for this very purpose?

Ptichka.......I too think that Luna was introduced as some sort of romantic interest for at least one of the boys, (Harry, Ron, or maybe even Neville)........I still think that Harry and Hermione are meant to be paired up......but with Harry's dark future of "kill or be killed", it's anyone's guess.........42

Re: HP #5

I think that Luna's purpose was to publish Harry's interview. I think I heard JK say Ron will be clueless about his relationship with Hermione until book 6. I think Harry will end up with Ginny, since it's not working out with Cho.

Re: random strings

1. I think Sirius will have some sort of presence in either Book 6 or 7. Not as a ghost, but there was such to-do about the Room of Death, and how both Harry and Luna could hear the voices beyond the curtain -- but why they heard the voices, and what they mean, was never explained at all. Also unexplained/unexplored was Luna's comment at the end that "it's not like we won't see them anymore" (I'm paraphrasing).

2. Likewise I think Luna will continue to be a character on the innermost circle besides Harry/Ron/Hermione, like Neville and Ginny are. Don't see her as a romantic interest for any main character though.

3. I love how Ginny has evolved from the baby sister with a crush to being her own person - in fact, she's the only one of the lot of them that seems to have a successful dating life! (sorry, Hermione - the relationship w/ Viktor just seemed a little too "George Glass" to me in this book).

4. One area that left me less than satisfied in this book is that there was a huge deal made at the beginning about how all 4 houses have to come together in order to beat the coming war....I thought that the increased bickering among everyone was going to end up being a part of that tangent. The D.A. was definitely a show of different houses coming together - but there were NO Slytherins participating in that. I am hoping that this will be a thread that crosses into the next book(s), instead of being dropped.

Ptichka.......give it a try. The first time I tried, I only scored three points. The same questions keep popping up, so the more you play, the higher your scores.........42

Re: Harry Potter Quiz

Speaking of casting, I know you guys like the idea of Kathy Bates playing Umbridge, but how about Dame Judi Dench?

Dame Judi Dench can play a total witch, and her and Maggie Smith are great friends, so the dynamic between these two would be excellent.

The recent rumors have it that there is a Japanese actress who has a big shot to be playing who Cho Chang in Goblet Of Fire (Cho Chang was cut out of POA b/c she was in only one scene and I think they cut the Ravenclaw match).

Her name is Anne Suzuki, and she won a Japanese Academy Award and was the Japanese commentator for the American 2003 Tony Awards. She was chosen to commentate b/c she played Helen Keller on the "Miracle Worker" on stage.
Here is a pic of her:

If you are interested in more of her acting abilities, you can view a short film on the internet here:

Hana and Alice

Just skip the intro, and click on the screen to view the movie. It's called "Hana and Alice" and it's about these 2 school girls who try to get the courage to approach the guys of their dreams. It has an independent "artsy" look to it. It's in Japanese, but you can get to see her acting. She's the one with the short hair and no pig tails.

I know you guys are wondering why I'm so interested in the casting of Cho Chang, lol. I just really feel that Cho needs an actress who can bring sympathy to her character, and after viewing the Short Film, I believe she could.

re: casting next Harry Potter flick

THIZfiyaVIETgrl - I love the idea of Judi Dench playing Umbridge! I agree - the chemistry between Dench and Maggie Smith would be amazing.

As for Cho, this actress seems interesting. I still don't have a total feel for the character, as she was only fleshed out at all in this latest book, and her & Harry's relationship fizzled before we were able to get any depth about her.

You mentioned that Cho was cut from POA - have they already filmed it? Are they still using the same actors for Harry, Ron & Hermione? I noticed in Order of the Phoenix that Rowling mentioned both Ron and Harry's growth spurts frequently, but the actors are already in puberty.

Re: re: casting next Harry Potter flick

Yeah, they are filiming now, I think. They started in February.

There is a new director named Alfonso Cuaron, and John Williams will actually write the music this time (he said for the other ones he just supervised the music). The actor who plays Percy thinks POA will be much darker and much more mature b/c of Cuaron.

Cuaron's other works were "A Little Princess" (1995), "Great Expectations" (199:cool: , and probably his most famous work "Y Tu Mama Tambien" (2002)

I love his camera work and him and his cinematographer really make everything look beautiful. I think he is a more artistic and mature director than Chris Columbus who directed the first two.

Yeah, they are the same actors, except for Richard Harris who played Dumbledore (Micheal Gambon replaced him).
Gary Oldman is playing Sirius Black, David Thelewis is playing Remus Lupin, Dawn French is replacing the other actress who played The Fat Lady, Pam Ferris is playing Aunt Marge, Timothy Spall is playing Peter Pettigrew, and Julie Christie is playing Madame Rosmerta, the bar maid.

The Rupert Grint who plays Ron already signed up for Goblet of Fire, and it is most likely that all of them are going to be in Goblet of Fire as well.

I really like Cho. So far Harry thought she was a "Goddess" and now he thinks she is a "hosepipe" I think Harry is going to find out who the real Cho is in book 6 (I don't think they will be a couple at all, but I feel that Cho will play a part in book 6).
