Dancers - Which do You Prefer to Watch?
I have always enjoyed watching the Championship Ballroom dancing competitions on PBS. This is when one gets a real treat and sees what dancing is really all about.
Shows like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance are not as interesting - at least to me.
Which show or shows do you prefer?
Championship Ballroom Dancing
Dancing with the Stars
So You Think You Can Dance
I prefer Professional Ballroom Dancing. Most of these couples have been together for years and move like one. Plus there is the added treat of technical ballroom dancing.

I'm with Ladskater. I love watching the professional competitions. What those teams do out there is amazing. At least it is to one who can't walk and chew gum at the same time without tripping over cracks in the sidewalk. (That would be me.)
The other shows are fun, too, but there was a show called "Ballroom Boot Camp" last season that was so much better. (It was on either A&E or Bravo, I can't remember which.) I hope they renewed that one.
I look at shows like 'So you think you can dance' and similar as more of a goofball comedy/gymnastics show rather than 'dancing' per se.
Just like with all so-called 'reality' shows, you can't tell me the judges don't know 5 minutes after meeting the 'competitiors' which 3 or 4 of them may have a shot, the others are merely there so the show has more than 2 episodes.....
There isn't much actual ballroom dancing on TV currently, but as someone who is at this point signed up at a dance studio, I'll be sure to tune in next time Sandy Duncan is on again.
MY TVC 1 5
PBS used to have a show yeas back with Championship Ballroom Dancing, always great to watch. I like watching people learn, but am very torn on whether I like the call and vote for your fave (love / Hate). I think that DWTS would be my favorite out of those, I like getting to know the persons. That entreatment tonight aspect is appealing to me.
I prefer watching the professional ballroom dancing. I've watched So You Think You Can Dance several times now, and there were very few performances that I truly enjoyed watching. I like to watch people performing what they're best at. There is very little interest for me in watching ballerina trying to do a jitterbug or a ballroom dancer do hip-hop.

I watched the first season of "Dancing with Stars", and I loved it, but the 2nd season, I didn't, because I was watching AI. So, if it's on this winter, I'll probably catch it again. Only if I like who is on it.

I love to watch dancing in most any form except break dancing. The ones
that are more gymnastic don't really appeal to me. And when they put skates on, it's even better.
I go for a little bit of everything... if it's fun to watch, I'll watch it... I'll even take in a good ballet... that's fun... not overly dramatic... I don't like to think all that hard during entertainment/art... lol
Competitive ballroom, definitely. I also loved Ballroom Bootcamp (which was on TLC, btw. And if they do it again I would so totally want to apply.) I sort of follow "So You Think You Can Dance" and I watched some of the first "Dancing With the Stars" but it's not nearly as interesting to me.
Definately -So You Think You Can Dance. These are really talented dancers. Not just specialist. I think Skating with the stars proved it was ALOT easier to fake ballroom than figure skating.
I like to watch all of them for various reasons.
Pro ballroom because they are so amazing.
So You THink You Can Dance because I like watching the dancers being challenged in different genres. I think many of them are surprised by how well they perform other styles. Sure, they might not be technically brilliant after only 2 days of training (they pick Thursday night and tape on Mondays), but a good majority have been able to pull if off for the inexpert eye.
I probably like Dancing With the Stars the least, but I do watch it.
