A gold medal doesn't mean you make golden choices evidently:

Tim Wood ended up with silver in 1968 due to (yet another) judging issue --but he had a great ethic and character from all I have read.

I have seen video clips of Tim Wood (the '68 OSM and '69-'70 World Champ) and he was pretty good. Whatever happened to him?

How good of a champion was Schwartz? What were his strengths/weaknesses?

Payday, Here is a link to an old thread about Tim Wood including memories from someone who skated in his rink. The link to the old article I found isn't valid anymore, alas. It was an interesting read.

IIRC, he was the guy in the booth along with the lovely and graceful Ingrid Wendl on Austrian TV, used to watch them in the Old Country in the 70's, and I thought back then that he was a slimeball (Mr. Schwartz, that is).
Used to wear these poofy scarves....yuck!
