Q: What's up with the Queen-for-a-day attitude. Why're you in everybody face?
A: I don't think I have an attitude problem. I just know what I want in life. If I were in everyone's face, I would have had the pleasure of meeting you Tanya. Thanks.

I love that!
I'm glad he's so tough about his public image at least, because it sounds like he just got his heart broken.![]()
I´m very glad (and relieved) to hear that Weir used the services of a technical specialist. WOW, difficult to wait until the first video clips of his short programme and freeskate...
Weir answers well even those unpleasant questions, LOL.

It sounds to me like he is hurting, and is using the negative e-mails to "lash out" (at least, it struck me that he included more of them than usual, and I thought this might be an explanation) I"m glad he has sense enough not to use a rhinestone "crown of thorns", although the explosion if he did so would be hysterical (IMO)
Although I love the elegance of Johnny's skating, I really feel he is his own worse enemy. Some might admire his frankness in interviews, I'm left with the impression that he is an immature, self-centered individual. Unfortunately, the more attention he gets from the press to say outlandish things, the more it boosts his ego.
My wish is that Johnny should do what he does best----skate. Oh yes, and please Johnny, shut up!

Sunday, October 15, broadcast live on ABC (men's and ladies) 1:00-3:00 EST. Go Inoue and Baldwin!
FYI, the two email addresses he posted are invalid...they don't exist. They gave false email addresses on the contact form so they could vent without actually being contacted directly...what losers!
I found this out because I actually tried to warn them that they might be getting some mail because their addresses had been posted, and my mail was returned as "undeliverable" because the addresses do not exist!
I love Johnny's skating but not always his off-ice persona, but guess what? He is who he is and I don't think he should have to apologize for that. I certainly can appreciate one person in the figure skating world who is who he is without excuse, even if I don't always agree with him. A lot of his public persona is media-generated...they can take a 30 min interview and splice it anyway they want, to acheive a certain outcome. Don't you wonder why every fluff piece and news article on Weir has the same theme(s)?
Let's face it, he has personality. You may like it, you may not. But in the sometimes vanilla world of figure skating, I rather enjoy the spice.
"I mean, people had a problem with Spongebob possibly being gay. FYI, he's a sponge and a cartoon."
I have to respectfully disagree. I hope he keeps talking, and giving the 'Johnny Viewpoint' for many years to come. The interest in this sport has declined dramatically in the US, although thankfully it is suddenly growing overseas in Russia and Japan. Johnny has helped to bring the sport 'to the masses' once again.
Johnny transcends the sport, and right now, he is the only US male figure skater to really do so. I see it all the time. Sit next to someone on an airplane, and they know who Johnny Weir is. Go to a high school hockey game, and even hockey dads know who Johnny Weir is. He's a great boost for the sport and he's unique, open-minded, open-mouthed, talented, and really just a very sweet guy - and also, a truly bright guy. Having interviewed and photographed lots of skaters, including Johnny, I get an interesting perspective so see them away from the rink, and a little into 'who' they are. Johnny is one of the good guys - he ranks up there in Alexander Abt territory - which is about as nice as you're going to get from a top athlete. Here's what else Johnny is: he's kind. He's thoughtful.
And on a self-serving note, LOL - he's a GREAT interview and he photographs like the face of an angel.![]()
