I finally got the results from my endoscopy test. Everything is okay! I still have to watch my diet as I suffer from acid reflux disease - no more coffee - although I have been sneaking the odd decafe. My Dr. also said "no more Advil." That is what caused the problem. So next time my back aches, I will be heading for the acupunturist's office instead.

It's good to be back in the land of the living.

My wife had to stop taking Advil, too -- it gave her ulcers.

Glad to hear everything turned out OK.

Has your doctor suggested Nexium for acid reflex? That has helped me a lot.

Larry :)

I gasped and then a sigh of relief. I used to work with so many people that had the same situation - the corporate world was a killer for them. They used to hate the fact I could take it or leave it when it came to coffee - I have only ever been physically addicted to one thing. Only a few of them said Prilosec (sp) worked.

Anyway, so glad it wasn't something life threading or that you couldn't gain control of. My Mom is getting better, you are getting better, a different member of GS is recovering well from surgery. Life is good for now. Glad to hear it Ladskater!

I have acid reflux. I just cut back on the coffee. I honestly would rather deal with some pain than give it up. But I did start drinking more water, too (and I also don't do colas or other high-acid drinks.) And trying to space out what I eat in small portions instead of just a couple larger meals. It definitely seems to help.

It must be so good to hear the all-clear!

Lad, so glad to hear everything is fine. I think if you leave the advil alone you may get better quicker. I had a really bad case of acid reflux years ago and it was bad enough it burnt or singed my vocal chords. I'm better and can drink coffee, although I have cut back to about 3 cups a day and only in the morning. I know when I had problems with meds it was because I didn't eat before I took them. I know better now.

I've had trouble with acid reflux before and I LOVE coffee. My solution was to get a very simple cold coffee brewing kit called a "Toddy Cold Brew Coffee Maker"

It involves soaking the grounds overnight and letting it drain through a filter...results, great coffee concentrate that you can prepare one cup at a time and almost NO acid or grease in the coffee. Been hooked for years now, so much so I can barely drink other people's coffeee.

Just goodle "toddy coffee maker" and you'll get a variety of online vendors; also, you can get the filters in bulk at amazon.com

glad this worked out for you, LS

Great news. I am glad your test was negative and it is only acid reflux
that you have to deal with (which I am told can be very uncomfortable) but can be controlled. Hope you feel better.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I do feel much better. I read that apple cider vinegar can help acid reflux - sounds strange to me, but I read testimony after testimony. I am not a huge fan of apple cider vinegar so I picked it up today in tablet form. My mom has stomach troubles too, so we are both going to give this a try.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts and suggestions.

Lad, glad to hear that you're getting to the root of your medical problem and that it's manageable. :)
