How nice for Davydov. I remember his stunning performances in Worlds 03 when he made the final six to skate.

Lysacek as usual early season but better than SA.

What happend to Scott? A clean routine?

Sandhu apparently a clean routine, too.

Seems to be a battle between the top 2 for the gold but they better not melt. The next five are there to take over.

Wht's with Uspenski? A big favorite in home country.

Sandhu stumbled out of his quad and only just managed to add a double loop i think it was to it. Don't think that actually counted as a combo as there were quite a few steps in between. Don't think the quad was fully rotated as well so it might have been downgraded.

Lysacek opened with the triple axel, which was clean. He also did a combination 3lutz-3toe. that was clean too, but then he did just a single flip.
I haven't seen Davydov, but it looks like he was the only one without mistakes on the jumps.

What wacky results and strange fields of skaters so far at this event. Davydov in first? Bizarre. It will be interesting to see what being on top does to him. His scores are very close to Lysacek's. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Sandhu end up on the podium. He does have a history of fighting back in the free. I've learned to have no expectations though. I still see Lysacek as the favourite for the gold.

I thought that Sandhu's TES scores were pretty low -- does anyone have any idea why?

As far as I can tell from the protocols, Sandhu messed up his opening quad combination all the way around. It was downgraded to a triple and he didn't get off the second jump at all.

So instead of scoring 13 points for a 4T/3T combination he ended up with a total of 1 point for the element.

(His triple Axel was OK, but he also got negative GOE on his triple Lutz.)

His opening quad was underrotated and he only managed to produce a doubletoe after several extra steps.

His triple lutz was landed on two feet
