Yes, it's another obscure competition.....

Check out the Senior Results. I'm not sure which sucks worse -- being 1st in the CD and the OD and then being last in the FD, or being last in both the CD and OD, being 2nd in the FD, but STILL finishing last....

I appreciate seeing those results from the Czech Republic, as that's a competition we don't get to hear about much.

Re the Senior Dance : The Swiss couple of Leonie KRAIL / Oscar PETER are actually very entertaining to watch. They competed last season and were cruelly undermarked at either Euros or Worlds [can't remember which, watched on Eurosport] in a really interesting Latin OD, so didn't qualify for the Freedance. The boy is mixed race, and IMO they sucessfully captured the essence of the rhythms, with authentic choreo, but got shortshrift from the Judges. :frown:
I haven't seen the other couples before, but I doubt they're as entertaining. In some of these smaller events, ahem, the marking is not always, er...100% fair or accurate.....

AFAIK, the Poles, Joanna BUDNER / Jan MOSCICKY have just come up from Juniors, mid-season, as the previous Polish Senior Champions, Kauch & Zych, have suddenly called it a day, so the Federation is hoping that this couple can be entered for Euros in Warsaw, so that would explain the 4th in the FD.

Re the Junior Winners, Tanja KOLBE / Sascha RABE of Germany, their FD is a copy of G&P's cheezy 1994 Rock & Roll FD, including practically the same outfit as Oksana's. Very busy with the steps, but not very tidy IMO [at Den Haag JGP].

A couple I do like is Jill BAKKER / Jan HUBNER of the Netherlands, stylish and match well, so I'm quite suprised to see them languishing down in 14th place.

Don't know the other couples, but I'm wondering why no British couple was sent?

Novices: Yep, definitely a Central/Eastern European fest, with a few Mediteraneans thrown in. Big entries in Juniors and Novices though.

Anyway, look out for the Senior Swiss, they're fab!

Thanks for the info; always good to hear from someone who is familar with some of the skaters in the lower ranks, especially on the non-senior level.

re. Budner/Moscicky: I don't know what's happened to dance in Poland. About 10 years ago, they had several very promising young couples on the horizon, but they're all gone now and they don't seem to have hardly anyone coming up in this category like they did back then.

In short: a) a lack of money to train, and b) the couples they did have did not progress as much as hoped, or felt they didn't get the ranking they deserved, in particular Sylvia Novak & Sebastian Kolasinski.

Sylvia is now a Tech Specialist.

Kauch & Zych were overtaken by a few younger couples this season, had problems with finance, and just decided [well, he did] to call it a day, inspite of Euros being in Warsaw in a few months. :sheesh:

Sad, really. :frown:
