While I've never heard that, I just assume it because she lives in Orange County :think: But then, Amber Corwin lives in Hermosa Beach and she isn't a volleyball player, Angela Nikodinov lives in San Pedro but she isn't a longshoreman, and Bebe Liang lives in Canoga Park but she isn't a porn actress, so you never can tell.
A bit of L.A. humor that no one but me understands there.
regardless of whether she's a republican or not (I really don't care) it's her persona (public/"celebrity" personality) that people will look at and judge her by. I think skaters like MK, Kimmie and Emily are much more likable persona-wise (as well as some of the new up-and-comers). I can't help but see Cohen as sort of a "Diva" who thinks she is "it" and is entitled to everything and wants her way all the time (not quite a Mariah Carey but you get my drift) In other words, sort of snobby, selfish and stuck up. (i.e. Princess) But I don't know her and she may or may not really be like that (although the "insider" articles I've read on her seem to all point to that type of personality).

But if people start assuming (for example, that Cohen leans to the right) it could be *almost* as bad. If it gets out there, people will get the impression she is and start forming their opinions accordingly. Her persona is enough to turn me off of liking her but political leanings can have an even bigger impact. (Remember the Dixie Chicks thingy? Or Madonna?)
Sasha endorsed beef after the Olympics at SLC and was excited to see Bush. That's probably why people think she is Republican.
Red Dog, one thing for sure: Sasha isn't shy at all. I know some folks that met her and say she is very forward, almost aggressive at times. Reporst indicate she is stubborn, and you're right a bit of a diva. Someone said she is the coldest ice princess she ever met.
I don't know that it's fair to Sasha though because others say she is sweet and polite. Maybe it depends on what persona she wants ot show that day?

In addition to adopting a soldier, Sasha also supports a charity called "Girls, Inc." -- a group designed to support and assist pre-teen and teen age girls -- which has gotten a lot of flack because it pro choice (the Religious Right actually is or at least was boycotting the "American Girls" dolls because the manufacturer donates to this group.) So, I don't think there is much basis for concluding that Sasha is all that conservative, even if she is a Republican (and many people who themselves or their parents fled communist or other left wing dictatorships are Republicans, just as many people fleeing fascist or other right wing dictatorships are often Democrats)
That's pretty broad. Forward/aggressive how? On the ice? In a crowd?
Of course at a public event Cohen will at least *try* to be nice to everyone and sign autographs and take pictures. Even the biggest divas at least find time to do that.
Of course there's something about her persona that rubs me the wrong way. I guess I just tend not to like girls who are into themselves and "looking pretty" (believe me, I've met my fair share of that kind
). And 95% of those girls in question tended to be the stuck-up kind.

What difference does it make what her political preferences are? She is a figure skater cum actress. Many wealthy people are Republicans so it's possible but again, so what?
We may be losing her soon, so why don't we just enjoy her now. Otherwise we will be wondering how much tax she pays.

I don't know if we'll know, but if you can be a fan of Johnny's and a Republican (per his Olympics fluff) then can you be a friend of his and a Republican?
I don't know how her political preferences make a difference. Scott Hamilton was friends with President Reagan, but he's never said what his political stance is, but he seems more 'liberal' to me... I don't care either way lol and I don't think many do. I think politics plays too heavy a role on how we view someone. JMHO
