I CAN'T have read that right. I just can't.

Sokolova in...THIRD?????????????

wow. Just incredible

I guess anything CAN happen.

I guess this also means no Worlds for her?

Could Europeons be a factor in deciding who will get to go the Worlds? I think it is a possibility.

Neither have I and many Russian figure skating fans. People watch these results with round eyes...

Doronyna

Remarkable that last year, she was 13th at Russian nationals!

Ah. So that changes things. But who is going to Euros?

I believe Russia has 3 slots at ladies for Euros...so they would send the top three, and then decide which two go to Worlds based on Euros resutls?

From the Taiwan videos, Doronina's lutz looks like a flutz (quick change from outside to inside edge just before takeoff). She underrotated both lutzes in her FS.

She has nice body lines and beautiful long legs, but she has all the expressiveness of a fence post and she is s-l-o-w..

In the SP from Taipei, Doronina had nice expression on the back catchfoot COE spiral and some nice sit spin positions. She does have NYC Ballet hands, though.

Some severely underrotated triples; unsteady spirals, bad spins. She is too tall for singles, should try dance.

I don't know if it is her heigt to blame... If the crystal report information is right, she is as tall as Kiira Korpi, and Kiira dosen't have problems with rotating her triples.

I don't think that height is a problem. Carolina Kostner is even taller than Kiira and her jumps aren't underrotated.

Sokolova third? Volchkova and Martinova this bad? After Slutskaya and Butyrskaya retired, the Russian Ladies field is really weak. And it doesn't help Europe.
Europe has a crisis in the Ladies field. I think that American and Japanese Nationals are far more competitive than Euros this year. Where are the French ladies (once there were Surya, Gusmeroli, Hubert..), the German (Witt, Poetzsch...), the Russians, Ukrainians, Hungarians, Finnish???
Europe now has just Sarah Meier, Caro Kostner and Elene. I think it will be a bad bad result for Europe at Worlds this year.
