Yes, as of last year in the US. Other countries or international adult events may have other age limits.

It would affect what adult level you're allowed to compete at.

I think you mentioned in the Lutz Corner that you were planning to test Intermediate freestyle test? If you have passed that test, you would need to compete at the Masters Novice level as an adult. If the highest standard test you had passed was Juvenile, then you would compete at the Adult Gold level.

If you only passed your Juvenile test, it would preclude you from skating below the Silver level, however you would have to take the Silver FS test to be able to compete at ANs at that level.

Thank you! very helpful. I am finding this out for my brother, not myself. He passed the Pre-Juvilline tests a while ago and is turning 20 this spring... He wanted to compete in pairs with his girlfriend who passed the juvinllie test four years ago.

Ah.

I can't find a quick link online about test requirements for pairs. They're listed in the announcement for Adult Nationals, but it's a PDF that's sideways on the page so you'd have to print it out to read it. Looks like your brother and his girlfriend would be looking to compete in Adult Gold pairs.

Here's a list of the program content for adult pairs:

You might want to ask in the On Ice - Skaters section of www.skatingforums.com/ ; there are several adult pair skaters who post there and keep up on the latest rules and trends.

A little irrelevant but internationally (like for the Adult World Championhips) i think they have an arbitrary age of 28 - 65 or something like that. At any rate - the ones to young to compete complain as do the ones who are too old!

Oh, Ant, you are going to start a war with a few people if you call it the Adult World Championships! There is NO Adult World Championships! :) I've been corrected by several people in the past that it is the ISU Adult INVITATIONAL.

Yeah, they can't call it a world championships because there are no entry criteria other than age!

Although having said that, the US Adult Nationals and the British Adult Championships are also self-selected, so..... (although I believe that there are special "Championship" events in the US which do require pre-qualification and having come in the top 4 at sectional competitions; but most of their events are Open).

But, technically, it is still the ISU Adult International competition, and I suppose we ought to continue to call it that.
