I'm not sure what you mean, Dee... he's done several different types of music and kept it to his own style, which is way different than anything else...

you could have the same question with all the ladies... all they seem to do is belt.

It is a bit tough to sit through the men, they are not a very interesting bunch. And even though I like Blake's beat-boxing originality and think he's cute, he isn't what I'd call a spectacular singer.
I thought Senjaya did a lot better this week, but he seems so meek and mild...I don't think he'll be able to "rock it" when they start having to do particular types of music in the final weeks.

I hate the song Sanjaya used because it never ceases to amaze me how it's so off... John Mayer annoys me anyway lol... but it was much better

Sundance needs to GO he should not have even made top 24.

Melinda and Blake are my top two, but I do also like Chris Sligh..........I don't get Lakisha...........she doesn't have that "star" quality, as far as I can see.....42

The ladies were wonderful tonight---except for Antonella....man, she doesn't hold a candle to the others. Even Hayley, though not as good as the others, she's cute and didn't sound bad, she just isn't as "wow".

When Ms. Dolittle finished her "W*O*M*A*N" song, I said to my husband "there's the "yo", "yo" AND "yo" that Randy was looking for!"

I think they were 3 that stood out tonight but yes Melinda was awesome!!!

Antonella was leaps and bounds better than the last two nights she's sung

she and Haley should not make the final cut... but I prefer Antonella to Haley... she was all over the place pitch wise... I love that song and she did not sound good with it...

Melinda is in a class by herself... I love her!

I still love me some Lakesha, but Miss Doolittle BROUGHT IT again last night. She should definatly be the next I-D-O-L!!! I would buy her albums.. I really liked Gina's take on Evanescence's song. Miss Doolittle, Lakesha, Gina, Stephanie and Jordan were the standouts to me.. For the men Chris Sly has the most consistant vocals, but I think he can dig further into that voice of his and get more soul.. Plus, Blake's originality has kept growing on me...and his cute little smile...LOL

I'm looking forward to seeing what "the divas" are going to do on Bon Jovi and country nights. That'll be the real challenge - to see who stands up once she's out of her comfort zone.
And I think I liked Snarky Sligh better than Humble Sligh. JMHO.

yeah but Humble Sligh doesn't get into trouble with the idol fans as much lol
his first week I thought he was a real jerk... but that's just me. I'm a Simon fan so don't mess with him (I'd love to see a singer tell Paula that she's crazy and she needs to just let them know if they did bad or not... her crazy little praises are annoying!)

as for country night with the Divas - I think they could sing some Wynonna hits... if she allows them... Or Reba McIntire...

I so want someone to sing a Trace Adkins song

Ah yes, the "required genre" portion of the competition will really show who can branch out and bring it!
It is still not too early for me to totally change my mind about someone!
I'll be taping the results show tonight and will watch it after I watch Survivor.
I see Antonella, Stephanie, Senjaya and ??? going home...I wonder how accurate my prediction will be?;)

I'm hoping for a Carrie Underwood song or two, myself! Or maybe Gina could sing "Redneck Woman", complete with tongue stud. (*snort*)
I'm a Simon fan, too - believe it or not! I think he's tough enough to put anyone in his or her place...and I rather enjoy watching him do it. Witness his conversation with Barbanella last night. (And the "I like puppies" exchange with Brandon last week was priceless.)
As for Pauler, I think she was pretty lucid this week. I actually understood and agreed with some of her criticisms. But yeah, the "Crayola box" analogy has to go. She could say, "You lack subtlety", but I guess that would be too easy. ;)
I'm getting real tired of Dawg, though. Was Travis Tritt on this week just to prove that Randy's still relevant? The Journey references are a bit old. And he has to stop comparing the contestants to the originators of the songs they're singing. Seems to me a "judge" and "top record producer" could be objective about the vocal performance he's witnessing and keep Chaka, Whitney or Mariah out of his head for 90 seconds, no?

I don't really know what Travis was doing... I don't think it was for Randy's career as much as it was for Tritt's... he's been off the radar for a while... I was surprised to see him there but I did know he and Randy were working together (it's old news in Country Music lol)

someone should sing "Here's a Quarter, call someone who cares" and then give a quarter to Simon at the end. That would be hysterical!

I don't want anyone to sing Carrie's music... just because I don't think it's smart to try and sing another Idol's song. That's too much comparisson and if you bomb, the backlash will be too much! LOL

Yes, Antwatella and Sangina need to hit the road! They should have never made it to the top 24. Stephanie, should definatly stay. Even though she sounds just like Beyonce..I like her voice a lot..

Toni, I think I would pay to see that.

But trainwrecks can be fun! And the notion of Dawg or Simon telling someone that "you just can't do Carrie Underwood!" would be hilarious. Surprisingly, I'm really looking forward to Carrie's appearance tonight.
Deep, dark off-topic confession from a non-country fan: I actually walked into a local record store and bought 'Some Hearts', and told the cashier that it was "for parody purposes only!", which was true at the time. (He replied, "Why you want to diss my girl Carrie?!") Not only did it inspire two of the best parodies I did last year, but I also found myself enjoying some of the songs on their own merit. So I still call her Farmbot, but now I do so with great affection.

Kelly Pickler, looked like a young Dolly getting ready to go see the Scarecrow down the yellow brickroad! She's had both her boobs and her butt enhanced. Looks to me like she wants to sell some records....badly!
I have never really caught on to the Carrie Underwood hooplah? Ok, pretty girl, pretty voice, but I don't think that is any different then the next pretty singer. Not very original.. She is just making it big now due to her Idol fame.. I doubt she will stand the test of time... Sorry, Carrie, but your no Patsy Cline..lol
