Corey is going and what are they going to do about the Marine? I think he will have to leave soon. Maybe they will bring back Julie DeMato or who was the last person to be voted off.

Re: Corey

Please not Julia.

Just finished watching this week's Idol and I was not impressed. Except for Ruben and big Kim, no one really made it fun. So many pitch problems. Ugh!

Maybe they'll just make this a non-elimination round.

Re: Corey

Disco was NOT kind to a fair number of the contestants on AI tonight.

Poor Josh ... he was a fish completely out of water. NOT his thing at all. Sounded LOST out there.

Kimberly C. and Carmen .... not great performances from either - talk about your "pitch" problems.

Ricky - somewhere in the middle of the pack. Not GREAT - not the worst. With his high voice range, he SOUNDED disco. It was OK.

Trenyce - good job; but, geez, it's really hard to sound great when you pick a Whitney Houston song ... nobody does a WH song like the diva herself.

Kimberly L. - great job on "It's Raining Men." She's gotta be safe after that performance.

Ruben - another smooth performance to "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love." So, Simon thinks Ruben "should win this competition." Apparently, he's made his decision already. Hmmmm ..... well, nobody ever accused Simon of being objective until the end!! I really like Ruben; but, hey, this isn't over yet, Simon.

Clay - WHAT ON EARTH HAS SIMON GOT AGAINST CLAY? To call that performance (Everlasting Love) "dreadful" after telling Carmen she was "good" .... oh, puleeeeze ..... I thought Clay was the BEST again tonight. JMO. (And, of course, the ONLY reason Simon keeps saying Carmen is "good" is because she was HIS wildcard choice...Simon you are SOOOO transparent.)

Josh has a huge fan base voting for him, so I don't know if he'll be in the bottom 3 or not ... but, based on that performance, he should be. Sorry, Josh ....

My bottom three:
Carmen, Kimberly C. and Josh (but if Josh's fan base holds up, then Ricky might be in there instead of Josh).

Who do I want to see go? CARMEN!!

Re: Corey

oh goodness... I'm with Randy more this time around than ever before... DISCO SUCKS

Carmen... she's definately commercial... I thought this was her strongest performance so far... but not the best of the night

KC... I like her... and I liked her version of this song... *I* didn't hear the pitch problem

Ricky... I didn't like it... dad did :p he's not the AI IMHO

Trenyce... don't like her singing still... her best one was I Have Nothing

Ruben... *sigh* I love my Velvet teddy bear who makes me feel warm inside... I agree he could be American Idol ... but I was upset that Simon decided against Clay... after all it was just 2 weeks ago that CLAY was Simon's favorite!

Clay... I agree he's the best... he's got a range that is wonderful and he just gets more confident and stronger... and I thought he and Ruben were the only ones able to get the right mood going... Simon, buddy, pal, awesome guy that you are... you were SOOOOOOOO off last night!

Kim L... she sang a Kelly song... it was good but being as how Kelly is the reigning AI right now... BAD IDEA... I didn't like it nearly as much as Kelly's!

Josh... :( The song was good actually I just HATE it  it's so over used... I don't think he was the worst and he certainly does not deserve to be in the bottom three....

over all for the outcome I want Josh, Clay, and Ruben to go to the top three... they're the only ones with a lot of talent(though the whole field IMO is stronger than last year's) I'm glad they got rid of Corey, he has very little talent IMHO and he should have been truthful... background check or not he should have given them a heads up.

I am not going to be able to handle Josh, Clay, or Ruben EVER getting voted off... can we have a three way tie???????? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dang!

I had to work late last night and couldn't even get home to turn on the VCR - rats!!!!! Why couldn't I have missed last week with the country tunes? It sounds like the episode was ka-ray-zee!

so....was Corey already booted? Was he on last night? I tried both the links posted above - the 1st didn't work, the 2nd worked, but none of the stories shown were about AI. If he's been sent packing, are they even going to have an evictee tonight? WOn't that just shorten the show?

I have to say that FOX has done just an inexcusably poor job of background checks this season. I don't know what Corey did, so I might disagree with their decision to boot him, but even in the case of Frenchie (who should NOT have been booted) - they knew about her past before hand, WHY let her get far enough in the competition that she had to be booted? I'm wondering if this was the real reason they had a Top 12 instead of Top 10 - they knew that 2 would be gone through means other than the vote (Corey and Josh, who I can't imagine won't have to go to war in the next month or so). In general I am hugely disappointed in the production of this season of AI. I feel bad for the contestants, they are getting a raw deal with all this stuff that keeps coming up and overshadowing their talent.

AARGH

Re: dang!

Kim L, Ruben, Trenyce: Great job.

Carmen: Her best so far, really impressed by her last night.

Kim C: Not her best last night.

Rickey: Obviously the next one to go, wasn't very good at all.

Clay: It's not that he did a bad job, but he sounds the exact same every week. He's got to switch it up a little bit.

Josh: Worst performance of the night...by far.

Bottom 3 will be Kim C, Rickey, Josh. Rickey will go because he doesn't have the fan base.

Re: dang!

Guinevere,

If you go to this link www.etonline.com (should work this time;) ) then the story involving Corey should be on the front page for at least the rest of today. After that it may change again like the second link that you tried.

Basically the charges were beating his 15 year old sister, resisting arrest and child endangerment (his sister). Fox has stated that the reason he has been kicked off was because he withheld the information surrounding the charges. He did give a taped message last night saying he wasn't guilt and he apologized. The story on etonline will be able to give a much better explanation. Hope this is of some help.

Re: American Idol 1st/2nd

I agree, they sure didn't do a great job on background checks this time! Trenyce has a record too...but apparantly, she was honest about it with the producers, and also stayed out of trouble since...I guess Corey didn't say anything about his "troubles"...Ta ta, Corey! (Sorry, I never liked him much!)

Yeah, disco sure was the undoing for a few....worse than the "country-rock" last week! I think this week was the WORST performances ever of Josh (who I like okay), Kim C (who I can take or leave), and CLAY! (who I love!)...Man, clay, it's DISCO, at least move! :)

I think it was the best ever performance for Kim L, Ruben (who I like okay, but don't see the big deal about, he has a nice smooth voice, fine) and Carmen, which surprised the heck outta me! Good to see an "underdog" of sorts do well.

I think either Rickey or Josh will be heading home tonight.....

When Kim L. started, she was so off key that I winced. Then she calmed down and the range of the song shifted to a more comfortable place for her (the beginning was just too low) and she really did a decent job. :)

Carmen and Kim C. did okay but the range of their songs was minimal and didn't showcase their talent (or perhaps they don't have much more of a range to show off!!) :x

Reuben and Trenyce did a very good job. :D

Poor Josh--it was BEYOND horrible. It was like listening to bad karaoke. :p :x

Rickey: I was not impressed.

Clay was excellent--for the genre, which I think we all agree was a bust (except that Paula just LOVES it SO MUCH!!)

Okay, now listen to me: The reason Simon said what he did about Clay is that he KNOWS how talented he is but he wants to push him to try harder and not rest on his laurels and think he's got it in the bag because Simon said so two weeks ago or whenever he said he's the one to beat. I don't believe for a minute that Simon really thinks Reuben is the next AI--but he said this to frighten Clay.

I really do think that Paula is really a kind and sensitive person. :D

Re: American Idol 1st/2nd

My recap of the disco performances:
Except for big Kim and Reuben and Clay, they all had pitch problems. Clay has got to find something different - he's beginning to sound the same each week. Josh's worst week, but Paula mentioned that he had a cold. At least, they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

As for tonight's show, who voted? How did big Kim end up in the bottom 3? Even Trenyce shouldn't have been there. I can kinda understand Carmen based upon past weeks. I thought the bottom 3 should've been Josh, Ricky and either blond Kim/Carmen. Josh did sound absolutely terrible and probably should've been eliminted, but probably got patriotic votes. Ricky got some personality votes and at least sang a song that was a bit challenging.

I like how the producers are handling the competition due to Corey's ouster. I'd much rather have a non-elimination round than see them try to stretch the competition out for an additional week later. At the same time, they are not discounting this week's voting by incorporating the results into next week's voting.

Re: American Idol 1st/2nd

There is no way Josh had a cold. You could tell that he was just agreeing with whatever Paula said. When she mentioned a cold he decided to use that as his excuse for having the worst performance since Keith!

I can't believe they wasted a whole HOUR to tell us that no one was going to be eliminated!!! I'm glad that this week's votes will count for something anyway....and how on earth did Josh NOT end up in the bottom three?????? SIGH

60 wasted minutes

Kasey,

ITA that this show was silly. As soon as Ryan ws in the audience trying to fill time with stupid (obviously pre-approved) questions I knew something was up. And, I'm sure I will catch flak for this, but I thought that showing the TAPING of the "proud to be an American" recording was a desperate attempt to milk it for everything they can. I would have much rather seen another (live!) group disco song. I am curious as to why Kim L wasn't involved in the taping, however....

Since I missed last night's performances, and got to hear both Carmen and Trenyce tonight, I'll chime in with these meager opinions:

Carmen - It actually was the best I've heard her. No pitch problems, song sounded good on her. But I think her delivery was poor, and watching her was totally karaoke! I hardly think her performance is her strength, at least in this case! And, adding to what RealtorGal said, the arrangement of the song actually reduced the vocal range from the original - making me think Carmen can't handle the higher notes. Nothing wrong with singing within her range, but the original doesn't have a HUGE range to begin with - reducing it shows Carmen's weakness with range.

Trenyce - I'm just not a huge fan of this song, period, and I thought she was a little bit shakier, vocal-wise than Carmen (I can't believe I just said that!). However, she took more risks, really sold it as a disco song, and performed it well. I would still have ranked her higher than Carmen's based on overall performance.

As for the non-elimination, and score combination for next week - I'm fine with how they are handling this, but I think it's rude that they let those girls sweat it out so much. And they certainly could have accomplished this in 30 minutes instead of 60. I did enjoy the apopolectic look on Simon's face, however :p

ps Thanks for the corrected link Kchiquita (I'm mangling your name, I know)!

Re: 60 wasted minutes

Yes, the look on Simon's face was hysterical. I'm not at all surprised by what they did. They have a contract to do a certain # of shows and they've got to honor it. What else could they do (besides do better background checks)? I don't know what Simon sees in Carmen besides being a karaoke queen. He said that she's the most "commercial" but Kim C. is much more commercial in her look and her smoky low voice.

I have to admit that I was SHOCKED by Trenyce's inclusion in the bottom three. She's really one of the better singers there--the ONLY one of the ladies with any kind of a vocal range. However, her non-singing personality is dull dull dull and that is costing her a huge fan base. When she's not singing, she looks like a deer caught in headlights.

Josh didn't get voted into the bottom three because 1) probably every military family in America is voting for him; and 2) I think everyone realized that disco was just a fiasco genre for him but overall he's better than some of the others.

My thoughts

Trenyce has to go. She may have a wonderful voice, but she just does NOT use it well at all. The song she sang Tuesday night...I think the problem is, she just tried TOO hard. And yes, she had several pitch problems.

Kimberly Locke was marvelous. That song suited her.

Blonde Kimberly needs to go.

Carmen is so cute, but I guess she'll be going soon.

Josh had a cold and disco certainly isn't his style. He's country through and through.

Rickey was hysterical and I don't care what Simon thinks. You have to entertain. And his voice was perfect for that song.

I've read the comments about Clay and I understand what Simon is saying. Clay has a marvelous voice, but the thing is, he doesn't try to embrace his music or change out of the TYPE of music that he sings. Each and every song he has song has been either slow or middle of the road. He needs to break out of that mold and show that he CAN be versatile. And I think that's what Simon is talking about. He may sing a different song from a different musical genre each week, but he selects the same TYPE of song instead of expanding. I love his voice, but I'd like to see him take a risk here and there.

And my favorite...hmmmmmm...Ruben. I mean, he sang country and made it his. He can sing anything. He's like Barry White and Luther Vandross and Charlie Pride all rolled into one. Ruben and Clay are my two favorites with Rickey and Kimberly Locke close behind.

Ok, I've stated my opinion. Now I'll go hide.:rollin:
