Chinese National Championships

It's almost the end of the season and all the excitement surrounding various competitions is pretty much gone. Without competitions, skating boards are getting boring! I am reporting some tidbits on an obscure Chinese National Championships which is current underway (April 4th - April 5th).

All top Chinese skaters except Shen&Zhao, Pang & Tong and Zhang & Zhang are participating. It's the first time Chinese federation is adopting new scoring system.

First day was pairs/ladies/men's short programs and ice dance CD/OD. Here are some incomplete results:

Ladies:
1. Binshu Xu
2. Kexin Zhang
3. Dan Fang
4. Yan Liu

Good for Binshu Xu! Poor Yan Liu.

Men:
1. Jinling Guan
2. Jialiang Wu

is this the equvilent of the US nationals, or is it a different Chinese Championship?

Final results

Partial final results. There's only scattered report from Chinese media.

Ladies:
1. Binshu Xu (around 146 points)
2. Yan Liu
3. Kexin Zhang
4. Dan Fang

Binshu Xu is said to crush Yan Liu by a margin of over 20 points. I am not holding up my breath, but really hope Chinese federation will send her to train in either Canada or U.S. She is the only hope Chinese federation has at this moment. The Chinese coaches are not up to their task, and time is running short. Congratulations to newbie Kexin Zhang, she is so young.

Apparently, the Chinese federation is talking about taking some major measures to reverse their misfortunes in singles disciplines after a pretty disastrous showing in Tokyo.
