2003 CONCERT SERIES AT THE RINK OF ROCKEFELLER PLAZA
Ice Theatre of New York, the city's most prominent
artistic ice dance company, is presenting the last performance of its
2003
Concert Series at The Rink at Rockefeller Plaza on Wednesday, March 19,
at
1 PM (rain date the following day). This performance is free to the
public
and features the Ensemble and special guest artists who together perform
a
diverse and exciting program.
        Ice Theatre repertory works by Katherine Healy and Associate
Artistic Director Doug Webster will be performed by the Company
Ensemble.
THROUGH THE GLASS, DARKLY, choreographed by Healy, is an ice ballet in
memory of Olympic Gold Medalist/ World Champion John Curry. Healy is a
former principal dancer with the Vienna State Opera Ballet Company, Les
Ballets de Monte Carlo, and the London Festival Ballet. Webster's work,
ON
THE TOWN, is set in the 1940s to the music of Leonard Bernstein. The
playful piece features nine skaters, the joyous music propelling them
through a delightful celebration of New York City's vibrancy.
        Performing as a special guest artist is two-time Swiss National
Champion Lucinda Ruh, who is renowned for her sleek, artistic spins.
Ruh
will give a special sneak preview of her attempt to be in the Guinness
World Records as the world's fastest spinner during a special event on
April 3, 2003 at Sky Rink, Chelsea Piers.
Ice Theatre will also present works by Healy and
Webster
during the performance of the 2003 New Works and Young Artists Series at
Riverbank State Park Skating Complex, 145th Street and Riverside Drive,
on
Thursday, March 20, at 10:30 AM. This series serves individuals from
the
Harlem and Washington Heights areas through free performances and
skating
instructions for the audience. (Program subject to change).

a
space like an arctic circle. Each piece had a dramatic arc and told a
tale,
from the lavish passion of Jacqulyn Buglisi's "Dreame" to the mounting
grief of Doug Webster's "Departures." Technique served expression. Even
the
