What a coincidense...

I'm going to the dentist this Wednesday too! I jokingly call it "The Filipino Torture Chamber" out of jest, because it's actually the least painful one I've been to in memory. Run by (for the most part) pretty-looking Filipino ladies, one who usually wears a dress with the image of Betty Boop all over it. Each room has a 20 inch mounted TV screen, giving the patient their choice of Canadian, American or Filipino TV. I don't understand a word of their language, but if you've ever seen the skimply-dressed lady handlers on a Filipino game show.....

Don't even worry about it. When you go to a specialist they are experts at what they do. When I saw a specialist about my tooth I was in his chair for 10 minutes. He said all done. I kept saying are you sure my tooth is okay. I did not want to leave.

You have my sympathies, Ladskater, as I too am going through something similar and might have to end up having the same thing done myself. (Who knows, maybe even on the same day.) I hope everything goes well for you.

Good luck, I'm sure it will go well. I've been in Invisalign braces for about 8 months, and it's the first time I've ever had any kind of major work done (okay, well I've had a few fillings and one crown and wisdoms removed). I guess the end makes the means worthwhile.

Say what is it with Filipino people and Betty-Boop? One of the ladies I work with is Filipino and she loves Betty-Boop!!! She would love that dress. I will have to tell her about it. Have fun at the dentist, I know I will.....

Sure hope it all went well with a permanently fixed ending. I've had a lot of dental work over the years and can "feel" for you. Let us know.

After a year and half of pain, I think there may be some relief in store...it looks hopeful.

Oh No, It Looks Like Money Down the Drain!!.....

Well it has now been three days since the dental specialist treated my tooth. It was okay the other day, but now it is back to its usual dull ache. In fact tonight it feels worse than ever. I guess the "redo" did not work. My dental plans will not cover a root canal redo, so now I may be out about $1,000.00 out of pocket plus I will likey have the tooth extracted. It's been a painful experiece all the way around - not just my tooth, but now my pocket book. I guess I should have had the darn tooth pulled at the start. Who knew? I have had several root canals over the years and they have always been successful - that is until now....

Not a happy camper!

Well that is the way it is sometimes. I had several root canals on my bad tooth. It did last a few years. Finally, my dentist told me the tooth is just gone. I had to get it extracted and now I am getting some type of bridge work. I thought only old people had bridges. Oh well, believe me many others are in your situation.

Sorry to hear that Lad. I want to see the x-rays. I am not a dentist but a "DentiPhobe I 'spose" - I love them. I wish everyone were as lucky as I am to have the worlds best Dentist. http://www.kupkasmiles.com/index.htm I hope they removed the full root, but also kinda of do not, for if there is pain (not phantom or psychological in anyway) it could mean there is infection on your jaw. I really hope not and they do better for your return. MAYBE your gums are just causing this temporarily.

Lad, I had hoped that things would have worked out for you, sorry to hear you're in pain again.

Sean, I glad you like your dentist. I do and I don't. My dentist forgets whose the "boss."  He forgets what he has suggested and then when I bring it up, he gets all upset. The sad part about that is he's young.

I am seeing the dentist tomorrow. I kind of wish now I'd had the tooth removed in the first place and spent the money on an implant. Oh well, live and learn I guess. I had to try to save the tooth..will keep you posted.

thanks for the response
