What does 'DOI' refer to?

Dreams on Ice, a show in Japan. :)

Oda's glory seems to be overshadowed by some 'new' stars such as Joubert and Takahashi etc this season. I hope he'll have an amazing season next year.

I hope so as well! What he really lacks is confidence. He started the previous season on a high note, saying in interviews that he wants to medal at Worlds, maybe win. But when his scores actually got high, after winning SA and skating great at the NHK Trophy, he suddenly was like "My scores are inflated", "I only won because of luck". Before Worlds when he asked about his goals he replied "I want Dai-chan to medal, and for me to place in top 10, so we Japanese can have a 3rd spot for men". I think he just psyched himself out. :(
Hopefully, like Takahashi and Ando he'll pick himself together eventually. :) It wasn't a bad season at all for him, actually; it's just his second year on the senior stage and he's ranked 3rd in ISU standings.

His technique is superb.

In practices he's amazing. I saw a few recent clips; his spins are just superb (some new positions), and he does 3-3-3's with such ease they look like doubles.

Do you know whether they've already had their competitive programs ready?

Sadly I know nothing about Takahashi's plans; he is keeping very hush lately and doesn't appear in TV shows much. :)
Oda will probably keep "Mission Impossible", for the beginning of the season at least. He is going to Canada in August, to work with Wilson on his new SP (and maybe LP). They haven't picked new music just yet. :)

I always prefer Oda to Takahashi, not sure why. Looks like Miki Ando does not have any of her programs done yet. The other Ando thread also seems to imply she's lacking of motivation a little bit these days. I hope Mao will kick *** next season. :chorus:

No, I don't think so! She came to NJ to work with Morozov - that's pretty motivated. Lonely and unmotivated are two different things. Also, I saw her skate last weekend and she looked great. Such a shame about the injury but let's hope for the best.

But I also hope Mao does her best this season!

Oh, poor Oda - made me want to hug him. His jumps are out of this world and he is such a performer! Hope he has a great season!

She's a lyrical skater and this is showing another side of her talent.

btw, David Wilson also has a lot of rhythm.

I agree - especially about David Wilson :love: although the long coat cracked me up for some reason!

i wonder who picked that music. It dosen't really seem to quite fit her.

It's an exhibition! Last year all the girls had just serious music for exhibitions and that IMO made the Tokyo Worlds Gala boring in the Ladies part. Some variations will do just good. She will show another side of her artistry and this is good!
Who choosed the music? Probably she was the one. Let her have some fun! ;)

I have never seen her doing this kind of music before, so I don't wanna judge right now.
David Wilson is a brilliant choreographer, it migt turn out good. Who knows.

the jump she has been having the most trouble on.... why not do something easy?

Perhaps exactly because it gives her problems and she prefers to practice it when she has the occassion, the way Mao kept trying for 3A in Galas when she didn't land it at Campbells & SA, or putting 3F-3L in her EX when it was downgraded by the technical specialist at JO. That's good strategy, IMHO.
That being said, I expected something better choreography-wise. It's a cute program, but not very memorable and some elements don't go that well with the music. I love Wilson's work, but I think he's running out of ideas lately... ;)

Is it just me, or does Yu-Na look a bit taller in that video? I think I actually prefer last year's exhibition to this choreography-wise, but I think she sells the music well. I'm looking forward to Die Fledermaus even more now.
As far as the lutz goes, Worlds was the first time that Yu-Na's had problems on the lutz in a long while. Especially with her good technique on that jump in particular, I'm sure that it'll be back by the time the season rolls around.

In his journal on official Web site, Evan Lysacek announced that his new short program is to music from the "Zorro" soundtracks. He is using "Tosca" for his free skate. Both programs were choreographed by Lori Nichol this month in Toronto.

Thanks for the news! I like both music, and have no doubt that he will interpret them well. "Zorro", I guess a black costume, perhaps? Well, the colour suits him well.....

Tosca! how rare:rolleye:

That's one potboiler to look forward to. Now, who is using:
Carmen? 007? Gladiator? Matrix?

Music appreciation is not helped by figure skating.
