Rene Roca and Gorsha Sur were American ice dancers (but if I recall correctly, never competed at Olys because of citizenship issues?)

you are correct, Gorsha Sur's citizenship was the issue in that case

Renee seems to be teh go to choreographer for the Chinese teams right now... though S/Z have been using other choreographers the last few years...

I don't recall S/Z using Renee in the past. I know they worked with Lea Ann Miller up until last year when Lori Nichol did their programs. I could be wrong though.

she wasn't an 'exclusive' choreographer for them, but I remember in like 02 or 03 hearing Terry mention it...

that or I've gone completely crazy... which is quite possible lol

Some photos of zhang & zhang working with their choreographer on their long program. Anybody can tell us whom this guy is?

There's a video link of Pang & Tong running through this program, I'll have to dig it out next time.

Z/Z, P/T attended an international athletic theme film festival in Beijing.

Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy's new short program music:

The next season has already started. Savchenko and Szolkowy debuted their new short program to music from the Asoka soundtrack (an Indian Bollywood Film) on July 7 at a club show in their home town of Chemnitz.

Gorsha Sur (Russian-born member of the Renee Roca/Sur U.S. dance team).

Link to my updated compilation of all the U.S. team envelope skaters' music known so far as published in their USFS bios (Halverson's and Dornbush's were added today; Czisny's is hearsay info): http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?p=253644#post253644

I've always loved Gorsha! I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with Zhang Squared. :)

Thanks for those pictures. I can't get over how pretty Pang is! She still needs to eat but she's stunning.

There's a video link to Pang & Tong's new program, but I have to dig it out. I like the footwork, but the music is blah.

Also some news from Shen & zhao, they opened a new skating school on July 7th, and there are a couple of photos. I may do a new thread if i have time in the next few days.

Thanks for the link to Pang/Tong --- me likes what I'm seeing so far; the strait line footwork has tons of potential to be fabulous!

I know a lot of people get tired of reading comments where Michelle is posited as the best at something, and it is no secret that I am a huge Kwan fan, BUT I really, really have to agree with this statement by Joe. This music is awesome, but I really have only seen one or two people skate to it convininingly and without leaving me feeling 'bleh' - and Kwan was definitely on the list - i think Browning was the other. Even when Baiul skated to in for some professional thing, I was like - yikes - too much slightly too risque body movement, little skating and just yicky.

I sincerely wish Kimmie great luck with this program, and maybe she will surprise us (ok, me), i am just really relieved that Evan appears to be getting a new short program.

I would add Jeff Buttle to the list of skaters who could interpret this music.

I totally agree - Buttle is truly amazing in many ways, including interpretation. He hasn't skated to this though, right?

(BTW, I thought his Ave Maria ex was one of the best I had ever seen - since then, I added Sandhu to the list of great Ave Maria's - so maybe, on his good days, Sandhu could be added to this list??)

That's the link posted on FSU. Not sure why it does not always work. They ran through all the connecting steps. Looks like a very difficult program.

i really like this. The music will always make me cry after sasha used it, but i think tha steps are really good and she looks much stronger and not as starving as she had. I hope they don't ruin it with bad outfits as they did Phantom. very good.

Daisuke Takahashi
EX: Bachelorette by Bjork

Nobunari Oda
EX: Around the World by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto

They both performed today at DOI Gala. Oda was reported to have a very wild, funny choreo. He pretended to play electric guitar in front of some happy lady; then a group of synchro skaters from the Jingu Messengers team came onto the ice and lifted him in the air. Takahashi seemed a bit tired, but his program was very elegant as usual. :)

What does 'DOI' refer to? Oda's glory seems to be overshadowed by some 'new' stars such as Joubert and Takahashi etc this season. I hope he'll have an amazing season next year. His technique is superb.

Do you know whether they've already had their competitive programs ready?

Thanks for the peek. They are using Roti R&J which is much less demanding than Prokofiev"s.

Joe

Yeah, Roti R&J is sort of overused, and their music cut is blah, Prokofiev's version is not a good vehicle for figure skating, IMHO.

Having said this, the transitions/connecting steps of P&T's program are definitely very challenging. There's no simple crossover leading into each element. They have to change positions constantly in those transitions. I'm wondering whether they'll have the stamina to pull it off when you add those triple jumps, lifts and throws etc. It looks promising.

They are a good team and they are good under fire. I don't see them messing up.
