That's a lot of work, Sylvia. Thank you. There are so many skaters whom I do not know at all.

I'm not sure what those scores represent in terms of being impressive. For example is 44 considered good and 50 is impressive?

Looks like we have another US Junior skater to look out for, and this one has a 3-3 (Deedee Leng).

Wow, thanks Sylvia. What would we do without you.

I wonder what happen to Katy. It's nice to see Kirsten Olsen skating. She also had a 3/3. Looks like she did pretty good with her skate. Rough outing for Megan Oster.

44 would be around the bare minimum required to make it into the top 24 at Worlds, for the ladies. I expect that number to continually rise in the next several years, as the younger skaters who were brought up around the CoP continue to make the sport more competitive. This past year, the 24th ranked Short Program for the ladies at Worlds scored 44.91.

For the men, a score in the high 50's is needed for a top 24 placement at Worlds. The 24th ranked male in the Short Program at this year's Worlds scored 59.37.

Thank you GM. I'll remember those numbers when I am in St. Paul.

This appears to be a pretty big event, though many of the skaters are not very well known. The U.S.F.S.A. home page does not have anything on it yet. You'd figure there would be some photos, a story, something.

She flutzes and the landing of the toeloop had a minor bobble. I'm very surprised that got a positive GOE.

About the GOE, I wonder if the judges don't (perhaps subconsciously) automatically inflate GOEs on the higest scoring elements. There seems to be a feeling in many quarters that the point difference is not great enough between a routine element like a triple double and a challenge like a triple Lutz/triple toe that only a few skaters in the World can do at all.

Same with quads for men.

About the edge quality of the Lutz, there have been so many arguments (more heat than light) about Flutzes and how they should be scored, I have to wonder why this problem persists even in the very youngest skaters, especially in the U.S. Are the coaches just letting it go, figuring that the CoP penalty is pretty much non-existent anyway? Or are the skaters just so eagar to jump, jump, jump that they ignore their coaches on proper technique?

Dee Dee's 3T on the 3/3 looks a little under-rotated, no?

She has really long arms and legs!

It's great to see new talent budding up.

In the free skate at Nationals (novice) last year DeeDee got the highest tech scores, but was only 6th in PCSs. The elegant Kristine Musademba had the highest component scores, and won the free skate, finishing second overall (Angela Maxwell won, with Leng fourth overall).
