Well, I figured a way for all of us to watch SA live and all.

There is this Russian program, called Web TV, you need to install on your computer, first (it's a RAR file). You can download it from:

You unpack it, install it on your computer, fill in a form, and get a trial.
Then you choose a channel called NTV+ Sport, from the list, and watch.
They are broadcasting everything, live _and_ recorded, the TV schedule is to find here: http://www.ntvplus.ru/tv#channel_id=942&day=26.10.2007&genre_id=70782

I've tried it, it WORKS.

an add on: If you want to keep it free, don't install the prog today, wait till tomorrow, b/c the free trial will only last 3 full days

Please also keep in mind that NTV+ Sports broadcasts all other GP events too, most of them live! For example, next week Skate Canada is live and complete on NTV+. For those who are interested, NTV+ also carries Russian Nationals live evey year.

Like any "trialware", there is almost certainly a "crack" that will override the time limit and all the program to work. I do this a lot becuase I am very careful where i put my credit card numbers online and I am not about to give my credit card to someone in Russia who could take the number and run my bill sky high.

I am looking for a crack for the program right now. But if you want to look for it, look for one that pertains to version 2.5.0.

Look, I wouldn't do this. The owners of the program specifically advice against using cracks, since they seem to contain a virus. You can read more about it, and all other tech issues here: http://195.28.79.102/Forum/index.php (it's in Russian).

The deal is, you can watch SA live and free. You can't have the program for free. Whether you trust the site or not, is up to you. I, personally, am not buying anything. At least, now. I don't know how desperate I'll become by the time CoC or CoR start though.

There is one other solution, and that is to wipe out and reinstall Windows after 3 days, and the "timers" in the trialware will be wiped out, and you can reinstall the program again. To save time, this can be done with Norton Ghost. Just Ghost your machine, before installing the program. This will save you a lot of the reinstall work. I do this for trialware for which cracks are either not available, or I have to do other things I will not do, such as being forced to look at porn sites. Norton Ghost is quite effective at evading the time limits on trialware. I do it quite often. Ghosting the machines also gets rid of viruses and malware I might now know is there.

Also, NTV+ is currently not in the Channel list. I just installed the program to check it out, and there is no NTV+ in the channel listings.

On other problem, they don't even list the website where you can buy the program, so you are just stuck after 3 days.

You can't get broadband where you are? If you can get broaband, you should get it. It it well worth the cost.

Besides, what will you do when you have to buy a new computer, and it has no modem in it? More and more computers are being sold without modems.

There is another problem. It appears that the program is one of those that ties one copy to one machine, meaning that if you have to get a new machine, you are screwed, and have to pay the money again. I figured this out by bombing my hard disk, reinstalling Windows, and seeing that happed, and the timer did not reset to the full 3 days, so they are surveying your hardware "singnature", which is unique to every computer. So dont buy the product until someone comes up with a way to circumvent product activation.

Believe it or not, there are still some rural areas (at least in my part of Canada) where high-speed Internet connections aren't available yet. And even though I do have a high-speed cable connection, I still have trouble playing streaming video on my computer sometimes...especially when there's a lot of other people connected to the server at once.

Back to the original topic, this program sounds like far more trouble than it's worth just to watch three days of skating...at least for those of us outside of Russia. Especially since at least those of you in the US can watch most of it online on the Ice Network, and in this day and age, we'll probably be able to see a lot of the programs on YouTube or a certain other board within a few days, anyway.

BTW, I wonder if this is the same Web TV setup which allows people to surf the Internet on their TV screens?

can somebody help out? It's all in Russian. What pin should I type in? It shows 'invalid pin' when it asks for something.

I downloaded the whole thing, and filled in the form randomly...

I got an English version, but it shows 'disconnect'...
