Evan is poised to defend his title here at Cup of China. It's surprising, but good for him that he was able to maintain his composure during the SP, which is usually his weak point. Stephane has made a career out of coming back from a disappointing SP and he'll need to do that again here. Great score for Johnny, which I'm sure forced Evan to step up his game. Weir has a long history of going down in the LP standings, so it'll be interesting to see if he can maintain this momentum. Go Shawn Sawyer too in 5th. Can't wait for the LP!!

So much for my predictions. LOL

Well, my predictions so far are right, but I'm not happy about it. Still, I think Lambiel will do better in the long, and I heard he's working on a new 3 axel take off.. So hopefully he'll look better as the season progresses!

Did Lysacek land a quad?

Yep, there was a hand down on it, and some think it was underrotated, but still good for Evan (quite frankly). Lambiel does have higher PCS than Evan, but I'm not sure he'll get high enough PCS to combat an 11 point Evan lead. Especially since if I have to count on one guy to go fairly clean in the long (It's Evan) Evan's not the most exciting skater, or the best skater. But he really is a consistent Long program skater.

Stephane needs 11 plus points just to catch up to Evan, and Sergei is knocking at the door for 3rd place..

Good skate for Shawn Sawyer. Hope someone puts it on youtube. I doubt ESPN will show it.

Lambiel fell hard on his quad.
My heart is bleeding...

Glad to see Johnny skated clean. I just love his triple axel, no prerotation, up in the air. just clean, clean, clean.

If Evan skates his long program to Tosca like he did at Skate America I think he will win. As much as I don't like him, he really rocked that program at Skate America. He got a standing ovation for it....only one out of three...the other two being Caroline Zhang's long program and Daisuke's short program in case you were wondering!

Dissapointed in Lambiels performance obviously but even more dissapointed in the unjustice in how they marked 1st and 2nd place. No way does Evan deserve to be over Johnny, and higher PCS for their respective performances , truly a sham. It is judging like that which continues to turn fans off this sport and rescind its popularity.

I mentioned this yesterday but I read on the forum on his website he has changed his triple axel technique completely and is not going to attempt it at all until he is fully comfortable with it. So he was never even going to be trying it here. At first I was upset to read this, but that news makes me less dissapointed if he fails here. It is obvious he is looking long term at the season and his career, not short term.

I just hope this new triple axel is back, and the quad and the other jumps are there later in the year. I am atleast encouraged he managed the highest PCS even with a big fall on the combo. The judges still appreciate his skating, but he has to start landing the big jumps.

So far all my predictions are coming true. Pang and Tong, check. Domnina and Shabalin, so far so good. Weir has a great chance to overtake Lysacek (one of these days Evan's "quad" will be downgraded).

And Bebe is well positioned, back in the pack, ready to make her miraculous run at a podium finish!

That's what I think too. I do appreciate Lambiel's skating, and I wasn't trying to slam him when I said I didn't think he'd win (although he still could) It's just when I heard about the jump struggles, I had a feeling that he just wasn't there yet.. It's good to know he's working on that triple axel.
