Well it looks like they improved their FD alot since Cup of China. As for the PCS, this event is in Russia remember, although that being that significant a factor is maybe wishful thinking on my part.

I'm with you on that. I think the event being in Russia had a lot to do with this. It was like mini Russian nationals. I still think their free dance looks like Rasputin dancing with a wedding cake.

I watched their FD on youtube (I didnt feel like getting up to watch it live). While it has improved tons since Cup of China (it had to, it couldnt stay as bad as it was there) when I heard that music I thought of the stunning Masquerade Waltz of the great Krylova/ Ovsiannikov in the late 90s. It fell so far short of the power, drama,
making the music come to life and owning it, just the overall stunning performance to that same music of Anjelika and Oleg, that the difference is beyond words.

I have to call bullsh*t on their PCS. they are way to high and the fact that they have gotten the highest overall total of the season by far is just ridculous :mad: Should be an interesting battle at the GPF

I predicted that DomShabs would score well over 60 on their OD, and over 100 on their FD, and that's exactly what happened.

The coronation has already taken place. All the other teams will fight for silver and bronze at Worlds 2008, Worlds 2009 and Olympics 2010.

That sounds boring but it goes back to the old days in dance. It was like that many times with such and such a Soviet couple sweeping the quadrennial, passing the torch of to their heir apparent to begin a new cycle. Some of them breathtaking (Klimova/Ponamarenko), many of them not so much.

If they improved their FD because of the competition one has to realize that D&S were number 5 in the Worlds. The 4 teams before them at 2007 Worlds, and the 2 teams after them were not in this competition.

I would just like to say congratulations to Zadorozhniuk & Verbillo in winning their first Grand Prix medal!

To show how a Masquerade Waltz should look ats finest, lets compare the Masquerade Waltz of Krylova/Ovsiannikov to Domnina/Shabalin.
Well, no one is saying they are better than Krylova and Ovsiannikov!

Only that they are better than Pechalat & Boursat and Zadorzhniuk & Verbillo.

Their scores seem to suggest alot more then the judges merely saying they are better then Pechalat & Bourzat and Zadorzhniuk & Verbillo.

yeah, i'm going to have to agree with Slutskayafan here. What the judges are saying is not only are D/S better than Pechalat/Bourzat but also that they are the best. Period. They are the best in presentation and pretty much everything else.

What we are not saying is that D&S had 4 teams ahead of them in Worlds 2007 and 2 new baby teams very close to them, none of which were in this competition.;

Irrelevant really, the scores speak for themselves. You could say the same thing for Belbin/Agosto at their first event, nobody in the top 7 at last years Worlds there and their scores were not in the same stratosphere, and even Delobel/ Schoenfeldner at their last event met nobody in the top 6 at last years Worlds and their scores dont compare.

The judges dont score someone higher just because they dont have a close competitor there.
