I don't recall that many of the ladies' costumes, but I remember Nancy K's from 1994 Olympics. Never did a skater look any more beautiful.
Presently, Joannie Rochette's are always have a rich, understated elegance, albeit with a bit of sparkle.

Yuko looks five years old in that hideous dress and it's unnerving to watch one do jumps and throws in a dress with that much fabric flying around below the waist. It's distracting. As to Alexander's T-shirt --:scratch::unsure::scratch::scratch: Granted, he'd look cute in a paper bag, but what's that got to do with either the program or what she's got on?

Maybe he's just thumbing his nose. I'm a sucker for the Russian men, but the original sausage-casing pants were a bit much. Perhaps that kind of reaction is why he changed the costume ... and the picture is is his way of tweaking the critics? Or maybe it's just a reference to the Love Story music?

And Yuko's dress is the most god-awful thing I've ever seen. It's worse than Kevin Van der Perren's Ziggy Stardust of the Desert costume.

I didn't see K/S until this year; I did not know that they are not an off-ice couple; and they seemed awfully smoochie-woochie to me after they finished their LP. I was left thinking that Alexander was corrupting the morals of a minor. In fact, Yuko is 3 years older than him.

As to the original question ... anything looks good on Tomas Verner; I like both of Johnny's costumes; and Takahashi's LP outfit gets 2 thumbs up.

I agree! Joannie always had beautiful costumes. I like this season's LP (?) costume very much. She looks really elegant and mature in bluish-purple. I also liked a red one before. I seem to like seeing her in strong colors.

Have to add Kiira Korpi's LP dress to this list; that one actually makes my all-time top 10 list. Gorgeous!!

Yukari looking perfectly beautiful

I really like her elegant makeup and fancy costumes. Her SP costume is so delicate. I also love her gala costume that flatters her fair, smooth skin and elegant atmosphere.

Miki

I liked Miki's costumes and makeup when she was younger.

These are absolutely cute and lovely.

I think that she looks prettier in bright colors and youthful looking costumes like these. Although these may be a bit too young for current Miki, I still feel that she can look prettier if she wears something more age-appropriate than her current lineup.

Another thing is her makeup. It looks like she was wearing liquid-type foundation, lip gloss, pearly eye shadow, and pink cheek blush in these pictures, which seem to have given her shiny glow, dewy skin, and peach complexion. Although she had a tendancy to overdo her eye makeup at that time (like this purple one as well as her Olympic LP makeup), the overall atmosphere was very cute and lovely.

Now she wears dark-colored, sexy costumes with crowded design, darker eye shadow, and mat-type powdary foundation of a darker shade. It seems that Morosov dictates these. But I personally find these a bit old-fashioned and heavy-looking. I also found her nail arts at Japanese Nationals heavy-looking. I wish they try to choose simpler costumes and incorporate makeup techniques that are more updated to the current cosmetic trends.

Although some people assume that skaters use makeup artists before the competition, it seems that they don't. But I feel that Miki may be better off with such help. Indeed, she can look so much more sophisticated when she has a makeup artist to do the makeup for her. Like this:
http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20071002-00000021-oric-ent.view-000
Her skin looks so much healthier and more dewy in this makeup compared to her competition makeup. I don't know why she cannot learn better makeup techniques, but that seems to be how it is right now. Miki is a pretty girl and I feel that there would be better packages to present her:rock:

Shizuka became much more sophisticated than before after turing to a pro skater. I suspect that being sponsored by a cosmetic company Shiseido might have helped her:rock:

I saw Miki at Skate America and she has some pretty bad acne around her jaw bone on her cheek. Maybe this was the reason for the change in the makeup.

Miki in a beautiful Kimono

http://www.sanspo.com/sokuho/080101/sokuho013.html

Love this Kimono! It's really a classical, tasteful Kimono with such an understated elegance.

The color of Kimono is nice on Miki. Her skin color goes well with orange and red, IMO.

In particular, this red orange is very gentle and tasteful. I love the gentle combination of red orange, red, yellow, moss green, ivory, and black on this Kimono. None of these is too bright. Everything in this kimono looks very gentle. The flower patterns of the Kimono are also very classical and elegant. Overall, it has really a gentle, warm atmosphere and goes so well with the beige background.

The article says it's her mom's Kimono that her mom wore when she was 20. That may be why it has such a classical taste. I myself have a Kimono given from my aunt that is decades old, and I really love it for being classical, elaborate, and antique.

I also love her fresh, elegant makeup and simple hairstyle that are not overdone in this picture.

Sorry this is not a FS costume, but I wanted to share it to you because it's really nice. To me, this is definitely by far the most elegant picture of Miki that I've ever seen.

That kimono looks "old", but wow she looks so beautiful in it. I have a pretty yukata which I used to think was a kimono lol when I was younger. Perhaps I sould get one next time i'm in Japan. Miki has become really beautiful and mature. I used to think she looked her best when she was sixteen, but now she has that womanly radiance about her.

I think it all up to costume, cloth, makeup, and hairdo, as well as facial expressions. I don't think her face has changed very much during the last several years when she is not wearing makeup.

Another fantastic constume of Yukari!

My very favorite of Yukari's costume! But I love almost all costumes of hers. I think that she knows what makes her look good.

2006-7 season LP dress

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/sports/graph/figure/07world_nakano03.htm

Everything looks so perfectly delicate. I love the baby pink, crystal on her neck, the soft texture with gather around her chest, the long skirt, and delicate decorations on her skirt.

Kimono's being "old" is basically a good thing. Especially when it's given from a family, it simbolizes family love and tradition. Besides, some Kimonos look like artworks. One of my Kimonos from my family is filled with tie-dyeing that could take months to do by hands. It's really beautiful and I love it.

Perhaps because they are between art and cloth, some Kimonos are worth $15,000, $20,000, $30,000 or even more. But if you can keep it for decades from mother to daughters and nieces, it wouldn't be too bad.
