Anyone have any information on time schedule or where we might catch at least a live stream for this one. It seems very much under the radar. Would love to watch- need to know where and when.

All I know is the date - April 20, and some of the competitors, but the list has changed frequently because of injury, etc. since the list was first announced.

Team North America:
Mirai Nagasu
Kimmie Meissner
Todd Eldredge
Evan Lysacek

Team Japan
Mao Asada
Miki Ando WD? Who replaced her? [Yukari Nakano]
Daisuke Takahashi
Takeshi Honda

Team Europe
Stephane Lambiel'
second man ??? [Adrian Scultheiss]
Sarah Meier
second lady ??? [Kiira Korpi]

Thanks for any help anyone can give. I'm stumped!

Miki Ando has been replaced by Yukari Nakano.
Kiira Korpi is the other European Lady. Yagudin was originally going but he was replaced by Plushenko. Now apparently Plushenko has also withdrawn and is replaced by Adrian Scultheiss (http://www.skatesweden.se/t1.aspx?p=97460&x=1&a=1129658) but that hasn't shown up on the Japan open website yet.

Here is the website: http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/japanopen2008/

In previous years they have done LP's so I assume it will be the same this year. There is also a gala which Shizuka will skate in.

Competition will start at 1pm and gala at 6pm on 20th April

Thanks everybody!

The format is competitive free skate; the idea formerly a pro-am I believe, but from the list of competitors, seems more eligible than pro skaters are appearing, at least in the ladies.

Information is beginning to surface. Have discovered this since first post.

The competition will start at 13:00 on Apr.20. (Japan time)
TV broadcasting will not be live. It will be aired at 20:00 on the same day by TV Tokyo.

Here's a time conversion based on start time above. Check your local listings for your time zone.

Here's a link to a time zone converter.

Stephane's official website says he has a small muscular injury he sustained in Gothenburg, but is participating in this event anyway. I hope he is okay and does not hurt himself any further. He does so many shows and competitions throughout a season . . . I hope he is also getting his rest and taking care of himself.

That's all I have too, but a Japanese friend tells me that currently it's the third one up from the bottom. Now we just have to hope they don't change the order of the list - OR add new ones until afterwards.

The original idea, IIRC, was for this to be a pro-am, not just eligible skaters. True this time for the men with those listed as pariticipating. Not so true for the ladies.

Also, tho the skaters are all from the US, that team was originally billed as Team North America - so others could've been invited from Canada as well. Not sure why that didn't happen.

Last year's Team North America included Jeff and Joannie (along with Kimmie and Todd). They can't participate in the Japan Open this time around because they're currently on tour in Canadian SOI.

According to Nana from Ballerina on Ice, Team Japan won :)

Scores:

Ladies:
Mao Asada - 128.03
Sarah Meier - 123.11
Yukari Nakano - 121.86
Kimmie Meissner - 109.50
Mirai Nagasu - 108.42
Kiira Korpi - 85.95

Mens:
Evan Lysacek - 151.95
Stephane Lambiel - 146.49
Adrian Schultheiss - 132.90
Daisuke Takahashi - 127.27
Takeshi Honda - 114.70
Todd Eldredge - 111.94

Mao landed 3A and 3F-3L in the second half. She changed her jump layout a bit to include 3S, althouh she doubled it. Despite doubling the jump, I'm just so impressed - I can't imagine when she fount time to even start practicing Salchow, it seems like her every day after Worlds was filled with interviews, TV shows and CM making... What a champion!

I feel bad for Daisuke and Mirai, it looks like they haven't had the performances they hoped for, particularly Dai-chan.
I missed Nobu, Jeff and Yags on the team... Last year they were a highlight for me. :(
