I think it's rather funny that in this season the difference between the short and the free is just one: you have 5 more jumping passes.
Actually, I think over the years the short program and the long program have traded places. Short programs typically have better choreography, intepretation, presentation and story-telling, while the long program has become the technical display.

I tend to agree. It used to be the Short Program was really the technical program and there wasn't enough time to really be creative or interprtive. That stuff was saved for the free. Now the skaters go from one element to the next with little sense of the music in the freeskate and seem not to have the time to do chreography.

I'm beyond thrilled that D/W are skating to Samson and Delilah. It's what I wanted from the beginning! I can't wait to see them this weekend. It's been so long...

Daisuke Takahashi Long Program-

"La strada" by Nino Rota

The program has elements of pantomine in it. Very interesting.

Short clip of him working on this program with his new choreographer Pasquale Camerlengo- http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=3Im76mUWEfs&NR=1

Here's an English subtitled video about the difficulties of last season for Daisuke and the changes that he had to make to adjust for this new season for anyone who is interested-

Thanks for those, very interesting. Takahashi. And he is so handsome...

I didn't know that Honda is co-training him now. And I am glad that Takahashi has some input now, chooses the music, the costumes. I have the feeling that he is really growing as a skater. And I can't wait to see him next week at CoC!

Domnina and Shabalin have updated their ISU bio:

OD: Waltz from Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovitch (They must be kidding. I don't care that this was a waltz written in the time period. It just is not a rhythm of the period)
FD: Spartacus by Aram Khatchaturian

Khokhlova & Novitski have too:
OD: Sam's Blues by Sam Taylor; Puttin on the Ritz
FD: Variations on a Theme of Paganini By Rachmaninov
