    Thumbs up "Open Range"

    If you like Westerns (and I do!) this one is worth seeing. Kevin Costner looks like a genuine cowboy and so does Robert Duval. In fact, I kept thinking Robert Duval was his "Lonsome Dove Character" Augustus. Quite the similarity! Anyway, the scenery is awesome (shot in the foothills of Alberta). I enjoyed the banter between Costner and Duval.

    ok I know it's R rated... is there a lot of language and or nudity/sexual content? Dad wants to see this but with that R rating there's no way he will... but maybe I can sneak in and get my own feelings about it and let him decide that way

    No, it's an honest to goodness "cow poke" western. The cowboys are polite to the woman folk! I guess the only objectional thing would be the gun fight - almost reminiscent of the "OK Corral." It is pretty violent. I would not take children to see this.
