In defense of Flatt,as mentioned in an IceNetwork interview, she was in Boston for a couple of weeks for an academic program and has only been back training for alittle over two weeks. Her coach mentioned that this was a chance for them to get Rachael's programs out and get some feedback from the judges, etc. With just two weeks of training under her skates, Rachael should be happy with a good SP performance and no doubt, the LP will develop. :)

The LP's take a long time to upload.

Here's Alissa Czisny skating to Dr. Zhivago in her LP

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPS6a80XhI8

thanks for the link! What a lovely program that is. I'm so happy for her with such a great skate under her belt. I don't normally like the catch foot spiral but hers is gorgeous - she has such flow across the ice. Way to go Alissa. I look forward to seeing her in person at Skate Canada!!

Doris,

thanks so so so much for the vids and the comments!!! It is always so interesting to me how different skating looks live vs. video. I do hope Wagner continues to improve those areas you mentioned....and wow, good for Rachel to be this ready with so little practice time under her belt...she is definitely someone to watch out for!

Nigel, I thought Rachael's long looked very new to her. It's amazing she only had both her programs for that short a time.

Mr. Ski stuck a piece of blue tape over the missing section of the P in the vandalized sign yesterday. Rachael's extended spin in front of the sign was a last straw. In fact, we have added opaque tape to camera bag as a requirement for trips for IceWorks.

Here's Alexe Gilles' short program:

Thanks for the results, Sylvia. I was afraid that they did not publish the protocols at all. It would be nice to see at least the PCS and TES scores separate, let alone what levels the competitors got.

Perhaps icenetwork can persuade Liberty to part with this info in the future.

I love Ashley's new look. Her dress was beautiful and she is more graceful in this program. Also love the hair - no cutesy 80's ponytail! Great for this early in the season. No make sure of no more edge calls!

Rachael's SP program is lovely and I like Moonriver. Is this a new dress or the same one from last year? Same hue. I think she is quite musical and interpretive using her head to her fingers with expression that is beyond her years. I thought she looked like she had good speed in her short with the exception of in and out of the double axel. I think that is the one jumps she really needs more height and speed through.

Alexe is a beautiful skater that covers so much ice because of her stature. She is proof that a tall skater can jump. I cant wait to see her fully develop her style - she still looks a bit stiff but wow, great start to the year.

I am so happy for Alissa. I can watch her skate all day. She has the most beautiful line, spins and spirals! I hope she can continue to work toward jump consistency and getting less downgrades. Oh, and what a beautiful smile - truly endearing.

Ski rocks, both taping and taping!

Alissa was only six points off her personal best, despite the fall on the flip. I believe that Alissa has a true Lutz and a true flip, but her flip is a big problem. At U.S. Nationals she missed her flip in boith the short and long programs, just like here. Maybe she should drop this jump and put in an extra loop instead.

Yet Rachael's overall skating showed that it's unlikely she'll have the 3A this season. Her 2A in the SP was small. I believe that the jumps she downgraded were in the 2nd half of her FS. Regardless, with her moderate speed and her other struggles in the 2nd half of her FS's, I think that while Rachael is consistent, she needs more power.

And while I liked Ashley and Rachael's SP's, it's better for the SP to be the faster of the two programs (vs. the FS). The SP requires less endurance and you want to attack it. YuNa, Mao, Mirai, and Carolina can put up huge SP scores.

Jonathan Cassar LP Liberty 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SPQ2gqP9z8

Who is this Joanthan Cassar? He interprets the music so well. The choreography is just great.

Curran Oi 2008 Liberty LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuPAfLlm5q8

I also have no idea whom Curran Oi is. He is a great jumper although the music puts me to sleep.

Patrick Chan' LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_jMKNpnGNE

Patrick Chan needs to run away from Lori Nicoles ASAP. She is running out of steam. The music is dreadful, and the choreography all looks the same.

saw him LIVE at nationals in 2006 and fell in love with his skating! he's fantastic, but he left his jumps on the practice ice in St. Louis

Anybody knows who choreographed his LP? I enjoyed his skating way more than Chan's. Simply lovely.

Two more LP's.

Shaun Rogers LP- there is some shaking of the focus in the final f/w sequence because the crowd was going wild and the bleachers were bouncing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_86VGAR_rvI

Jeremy Abbott LP- this program will be better later in the year, for sure.
http://www.youtube.com/v/dAXp9E5HmCc

I'm sorry these are not professional quality films. There are difficulties in filming at Iceworks. For one thing, they leave the hockey boards up. Between smears on the boards and the boards themselves, focus becomes difficult, and in fact, the optimal focus length is different between focussing through the boards and just through the air above the boards.

The spectators are limited to seating on bleachers that are not sturdy and vibrate. This creates shakiness in the vids, particularly if the audience begins stomping to the music.

When the compressor fails, the arena staff tries to compensate by turning off some of the lights. And you don't get tv quality lighting at a summer competition in any case.

And you're in the middle of a crowd, so crowd noise and motions will affect the final product.

Not to mention that no matter where you sit, you will be unable to see at least one corner of the rink.

Finally, maintaining that level of steadiness and attention (4 minutes) without a tripod is quite difficult. As Mr. Ski tires over the course of the day, this becomes evident.

So my apologies for the quality of the films, but under the circumstances, they are the best we can make them.

Oh my goodness! No apologies necessary - or even warranted. I think I speak for nearly everyone, THANK YOU & Mr. Ski for taking the time to record and upload these wonderful sneak peaks at the upcoming season. It's just too fun to know we've had a hint of the things to come.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you.:rock::rock:
