What is the Thornhill Summer Skate, Aug. 15-17 like? My family and I are thinking of being in the area on vacation at that time. Is it worth our while? Thanks!

2 Junior Pairs teams
5 Junior Dance teams, including a US team
13 Novice men, including US men
70 Novice ladies, including US ladies
4 Novice Pairs, including a US team
14 Novice Dance teams, including US teams
13 Pre-Novice men
81 Pre-Novice ladies

The 2008 dates for BC/Yukon SummerSkate are Aug. 14-17.Thornhill Summer Skate: August 14 - 17th, Thornhill, Ontario
BC SummerSkate: August 1 - 4, Burnaby, British Columbia
U.S. Figure Skating is using COS Summer Skate in Thornhill (near Toronto) as a "Developmental International" for the second year in a row, along with BC/YT SummerSkate near Vancouver. Here's the link to the U.S. skater/team assignments for these two Canadian comps: http://www.usfsa.org/content/Develop...%20Results.pdf

Some other competitions in September that could attract decent sized fields before the qualifying events of October (regionals) and Sectionals (November) - including Fall Figure 8 in Ottawa, and a new dance competition in Colorado Springs - Pikes Peak Classic - in September the week of the 22nd
Here's a preview article about the Liberty summer competition this week: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/artic...&vkey=ice_news
I believe this is Alissa Czisny's first-ever trip to Liberty.Among those scheduled to compete are reigning Canadian champion Patrick Chan, who won the senior men's event here last season, landing his first-ever triple Axel in competition; 2007 U.S. bronze medalist Alissa Czisny; reigning U.S. bronze medalist Ashley Wagner, who is expected to compete in the senior ladies short program event; and Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig, fifth in pairs at the 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Competition schedule (Tue. July 15-Sat. July 19) on the host club's site: http://www.libertyskating.org/LibertyNews.html#schedule
