    Confirmed Participants

Reading the JGP thread in The Edge, I thought it would be a good idea to have an easy-to-find list of all confirmed participants for this event from all countries that have provided such information so far, so I'm starting one here. I've gone the entries from the US, Canada, and Italy, and if anyone remembers or hears anything else, just reply and I'll edit.

Sometimes the Russian federation lists skaters for JGP events and then later on withdraws one or more of them. They did it last season with Artemieva (JGP ROU), Petushkova (JGP AUT and JGP EST) and Gozeva (JGP BUL); these 3 ladies never did get to skate. Also, Tertichnaia was scheduled for a second event (JGP BUL) but was replaced by Vasfieva, and Vasfieva herself was scheduled for the final event (JGP GBR) but was withdrawn and no Russian lady went to Sheffield.

I wrote on this on The Edge.

I'm not a predicter of gold but I like to pick out the podium. (My mother used to play the horses, and she liked to play win, place and show - my father would only pick out winners and he was not as lucky as mom.)

The Men; Brezina; Mahbanoozadeh, and possibly Gatchinsky.

The Ladies: Maybe Musademba on the podium.

The Dance: Don't know any team here, including the Americans.

Thats what I thought so too, since Russia also has a long standing history of changing names once the final lists had come out. but than I noticed that no substitutes have been named. So since name changes are only allowed between entries and substitutes that should rule out any changes. But than for some reason the ISU have never enforced that rule for Russian skaters on the JGPs

So the ladies lead in participation, with 38 entries. It's so cool that there are so many entries in the junior events vs. 12 maximum for the senior events.

Here's how Courchevel compares to the next 3 events in the number of ladies entries:
    38 France
    40 Italy
    28 Mexico
    39 Czech Republic

There is starding order for this JGP event for SP and CD
    http://www.isufs.org/results/jgpfra2008/

One thing witch I noted is absens of Artur Gachinski (RUS). There is anly one representant of Russia Jean Bush. So I have hope that it doesnt't mean that Artur has some problems witch healh/ingury.

He is not injured. Alexei Mishin said Artur grew up a lot a his body building changed a lot also. He improved in presentation and skating skills but has some problems especially with jumps. He needs more time to stabilize it. He can possibly skate in Madrid.

Gatchinsky was the rage last year and did beat out Razzano for one of the comps. However, Razzano did much better in the Finals. Correct? Not surre.

Gachinski was 2nd to Razzano's 4th in the JGP in Estonia last year, but Razzano finished 4th and Gachinski 8th in the JGP Final.

Gachinski was also listed for the JGP next week in Merano. Will he show up there or wait until Madrid (the 5th JGP), I wonder?

Back on topic... some posted on FSU (Kiss and Cry subscription section) that Brezina "was unbelievable in the practice" -- sounds like he's the favorite among the men (not surprisingly).
