I am expecting Monko & Khaliavin to win this, based on the fact that they medalled last year in the JGP and had a great score at Russian nationals.

Gilles and Donahue are a new team, but they were amazing at Lake Placid IDC. Lake Placid IDC scores predicted good things for the Hubbells and the Shibutanis, and Gilles and Donahue can do nothing but improve, given they are so new together. They could easily surprise and win this event.

This couple is rather a mystery. I can find nothing about them from the 2007/2008 season and suspect they must have been injured. They were very good in the 2006/2007 season, and I love the videos I found of them. It's hard to place where they might end up, but I can see them medalling.

Wingle and McKernan are another couple who are a new team, and who had significant success in juniors with their previous partners. They won the CD at Lake Placid but did not do as well in the OD and FD. Again, they can only improve. They definitely have a chance at a top 6 spot.

Antipova / Kudashev competed in JGP BUL last season. The finished 7th behind Pajardi / Caruso, Wingle / Devereaux, Vykhodtseva / Shumski, Pushkash / Kiselev and Rouzet / Rumi; their score was an improvement over their score at 2006 JGP Courchevel.

The new team has not been without its own setbacks. After winning their group's compulsories event at Lake Placid, they received their JGP placement, but practice has been slowed recently by some medical issues. Wingle returned to the ice with only a week's worth of preparation till the team was to compete in Ostrava.
