In this field, consistency was the key to a win. Gachinski didn't nail the SP and Machida faltered in the FS, so consistent performer Mahbanoozadeh walked away with the gold medal.

WAY TO GO, ARMIN!!

Whatever happened to Grigoriev? After a 20th place in the SP, he withdrew from the FS. He is currently listed to compete at Sheffield, but then the Russians haven't often sent the skaters initially listed for an event. My guess is they will send Mikhailov to Sheffield instead.

His component mark was sooo low in short program which shows that he wasn't OK. I read at Russian message board anything about 39 degrees of Celsius (102,2 Fahrenheit) and intoxication but nothing is confirmed. Nikita can replace Artem in Sheffield or Daniil Gleichengauz in Cape Town (because Daniil didn't have good skate in Samara at Russian Cup).

Thank you!

Extremely helpful.

And for those, like me, who can't read Russian,

http://stevemorse.org/russian/rus2eng.html

A useful site for transliterating Russian names into English names using cut and paste. I now have a list of how everyone finished, both the placings overall, sp, lp, total score, date of birth, and what I think is club & city? Or is it province & city.

For Madrid, or in general? So far, I have not seen a single video coming out of this Madrid competition. There was no streaming or TV coverage, at least that has been aired yet, and the event had a strict camera policy.
