With 5 of the 8 JGP events completed, I looked at how many national assignments were completed.

USA 2+2+2+2+2=10
FIN 2+1+0+2+2=7
JPN 2+2+2+2+2=10
RUS 2+1+0+1*+1=5 (* had an entry withdrawn)
SWE 0+2+0+2+1=5

GER 1+2+0+2+2=7
CAN 2+2+2+2+1=9
EST 1+2+0+0+1=4
ESP 0+0+0+0+3=3
ITA 1+3+0+1+1=6

The first group of 5 nations are entitled to 2 assignments at each JPG event due to World junior championships results. The second group are entitled to 1 assignment at each JPG. The second group also got extra assignments because some nations in the first group declined assignments, by making requests, or by being the host nation.

For the upcoming events, Canada has 1 entry listed for Gomel, 2 for Cape Town, and 1 for Sheffield. They have plenty of substitutes listed for each event, so it's possible, although I think unlikely, that they will have additional entries. The Canadian federation have to be on their toes just to get 2 ladies per event. It's no wonder that they have a hard time getting the right ladies to each event to maximize their chances of making it to the JGPF.

Including the 2 withdrawals, there were 260 participations. 175 (singles) ladies from 52 nations showed up to compete. The two events held outside of Europe, in Mexico City and in Cape Town, had the two lowest number of participants due to the travel.
