Currently in the Figure Skaters Online hot seat is the 2008 U.S. Ladies Champion Alexe Gilles, who is doing the interview in the midst of a stellar junior international season. Her next competition is December's Junior Grand Prix Final in Goyang City, Korea.

Gilles started this season season with a silver medal performance at JGP Mexico in Mexico City. She topped that by winning the gold medal at the JGP competition in Cape Town, South Africa.

Last season, Gilles won the silver medal at JGP Lake Placid, finished fourth at JGP Croatia, placed sixth at the JGP Final and took the gold medal at the national championships.

She currently trains in Colorado Springs, Colo., under the direction of coaches Tom Zakrajsek, Becky Calvin and Jill Trenary. Her older brother Todd and twin sister Piper, both ice dancers, also train at the World Arena.
